2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

Picked my truck up yesterday from Koons in Virginia it’s about 200 miles away from me in Jersey. It drove like a dream, doesn’t high idle at cold start. Only thing I noticed once was that the first time I drove it it was a little jerky at about 5mph but that was the first time it was driven, after that I haven’t noticed it even at low speeds in DC traffic.

Things I’ve checked from this forums, all my features work, windows, everything is aligned properly body wise. All screens work, the ram boxes open with the buttons ( some here reported that they did not on their trucks).

I did baby it with top speed on I95 at about 75. mph for a little while but mostly between 50-65 due to traffic. The truck does NOT want to go slow it is so smooth and accelerates so quick it’s a fantastic ride in all facets. I went from 10mpg to about 17mpg on the trip home and used a little less than a 1/4 tank.
I agree, I love the way my Limited drives and its surprisingly quicker than what I thought it would be. I tried out the hands free driving and was really impressed with it...I was cruising down the highway in self drive mode getting a massage at the same time. that's why I'm so mad it keeps having to go back to the dealer!

Is the upgraded 14” Uconnect screen a total gimmick? Seems like the added real estate is consumed by the digital buttons that replace the physical controls pushed out by the extra height (trailer gain, suspension height, etc).

Yeah I would say upgraded screen and passenger screen are gimmicks in my opinion. They got rid of physical buttons and replaced them with the screen for the 14 in screen, literally can’t use that screen space for anything else. As far as the passenger screen I don’t see myself or anyone else actually using it would have much preferred a top and bottom glove box.

Picture of my RPM's on cold start. Is this normal? No issues with the truck at all, but seem to be getting mixed info on what is considered normal rpm's on cold start.

Mine does the same - even when I start it in 110+ AZ ambient temps!
Dealer tech said it is normal.

Thanks for that info. I'm not sure why it needs to run that high at start up, especially when it's not even cold out, but I would definitely prefer a less revved start up.

Part of emissions to heat up the cats more quickly. Of all the Hurricane “topics” the high idle wouldn’t cause me a second of worry.

Well I have seen discussion of issues with check engine lights maybe being associated with a misfire at startup. So until that happens to me, I won't worry about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case, that maybe it's related to the way the engine is programmed to run at start up and rev high. The only other thing about the high rpm startup is it's not really acoustically pleasing. As a comparison, my wife's X7 with BMW's inline 3.0 twin turbo sounds decent at startup compared to my Ram.

Largely depends on ambient temps. If it's cooler it will run at a slightly higher RPM longer than it would if it's warm out. Every vehicle tries to warm up to a certain operating temperature right away on start.

I do think the usable space of the actual interface is a little bit more. Plus the screen is moved up which is nice.

that seems absolutely normal, why are people making a big deal out of that initial idle?

Seems a little high to me, but if others say it's normal for the 2025's, I feel a little more comfortable about it. Just doesn't sound great or sound like the smoothest idle either. Sounds like the computer is making adjustments at times until the idle starts to come down. I have 5 cars between my wife and I, and never question any of the other cars start up. Just this truck, the start up wasn't what I was expecting and probably could be better. Other than that, I don't miss my hemi like I thought I would. The hurricane motor makes you forget about the hemi and seems like a great motor. Feels like it's twice the size it actually is once you are actually behind the wheel.

Interesting, all my vehicles seem to get near 1500rpms or higher on initial start.

Had my rebel for about a week 330 miles tire pressure sensor warning came on unable to read front left tire. Just happened to be next to the dealership and salesman wasn't there went back to truck and it went away before I got in reverse. Hope it's just a quick glitch

Little lock symbol on the front drive shaft in the picture on your dashboard. What is it. Never mind figured it out. Didn't know u could flat tow these trucks. Thanks

yep pretty much...

I’ve had a new ‘25 Limited Level A for about a week and everything about it is awesome. Still in the process of taking in all of the options. Ran across this video earlier today. At the 2:05 mark in the video below he’s talking about and showing how to activate the camera displaying when the turn signal is used. Another function I’ve seen is the cargo camera. Does anyone have this option? I don’t seem to have either if these. Maybe it’s an option that comes with a different package?

I saw that as well...I was wondering if that came with the trailer tow mirrors? He never shows the actual truck and the truck isn't available on their site anymore to look at the window sticker.

Good point that the mirrors weren’t shown. Maybe those options come with the trailer tow mirror option.
