I've got quite a good deal lined up on a 25 Rebel that I'd really like to pursue. I've been reading through the thread due to the engine being new, despite being in the wagoneers for a couple years. That being said, having had as many issues as you all have, I don't exactly get warm fuzzies about purchasing it. They're giving me great trade on my 4Runner that I doubt I'll get at a later date anywhere else. I had a 2014 Sport with the 5.7 and loved it, but am now very skeptical of the Hurricane engine.

Would you all, based on your issues, recommend I hold off on the purchase until the motor has had a couple of years to be worked out more adequately? I'd hate to buy it and then have to continuously have it in the shop.

Thanks

Absolutely not, this engine is awesome. The problems we are having SUCK!!!! but if I had it to do all over again I’d still by the truck. Read through ANY forum and you’ll find people pissed at the manufacturer of that product, we are a small percentage, my buddy hasn’t had a single issue with his 25’ these problems will pass.

I highly doubt that will fix it, def software/program related

I stopped by the dealership that has my truck and talked to the service manager. He has been driving my truck around some here and there trying to get it to mess up. Last time he did, which I think was this morning, the check engine light came on and code 0302 got stored. He had whatever equipment they use for capturing freeze frames hooked up, and it got a freeze frame. He let me see the printout, and the one thing that jumped out at us was that all 4 oxygen sensors were reporting a temperature of -40F. This is plainly impossible, given that the truck was in the middle of being driven and the actual ambient temperature outside is some 90 degrees warmer than that. Who knows where this will lead. Other than the fact it's my truck we're talking about, I find all this terribly interesting. He also mentioned that he thinks workers may have been sabotaging some new trucks at the plant. Not necessarily mine, but he said they've had a bunch of '25's come in with no airbox, missing the parking brake module (located on the caliper), parking brake module damaged in a way not really possible in transit, and various other suspicious things. Given that there was a strike there recently, this could well be. I've read more than one account of cars in the 70's built right around the time of strikes having coke cans and such put inside doors, occasionally with notes written to whoever finally found the item. Not saying that's going on, but I wouldn't be shocked to find out it's true.

so are close to replacing anything

The oxygen sensors ought to be reporting temps in the high hundreds to low 1000's, since they're in the exhaust pipe and the truck was being driven.

just wondering anyone hear whistle noise after warm passenger wheel well

o i know i feel like mine are bas cause drive great till coolant hit 160 o2 sensors are off till then all cars

looks like old phone wire that comes off the oxygen sensors two grey wires come off them looks like a last second thought where to run the wires you can see them clear as day on the turbo side

I do, I thought it was the turbo
ok turbos on driver side ok cool could be alternator or the intake tubes you can see them on passenger side thru wheel well . cause sounds like a kink in vacuum hose where its not sealed but if your is doing it then i am sure its normal

I hear it at drive through windows usually

You know I just got my truck back from PPF and ceramic coating and I too just noticed a whistling sound which sounds like it's coming from the passenger side. I assume it's some sort of vacuum leak from the turbos' plumbing somewhere. Who knows. Until it throws a light there's no way to tell.
