2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo, SO, 420HP - check engine light

Man I have to admit I do miss my hemi,, but I’m not upset or concerned I have the hurricane now. These issues can be buffed out under warranty. I was able to get the dealer to work in a Toyota backed 7 year 125k bumper to bumper for a solid price and the dealer I talked to about a 24 with a hemi wouldn’t do anything on it so I went with the 25. It runs smooth and has all the power I need tbh. It’s a risk always with new things, but I think if you get the right coverage you will be fine even if there is an issue.
That is true as long as you don't mind being without your truck, while you still make payments on it, for however long it takes to fix it. Or, like in the case of mine, they (ram) apparently do not yet know HOW to fix it. I must admit, I'm perplexed as to how you got your dealer to work in a Toyota backed warranty in a ram truck, or am I missing something?

I agree, this truck has more then what I truthfully need/want is something else haha. But I'm rarely on it pushing out all the power or anything. I've thought about leaving this truck alone and going for a RHO or a G/T, as all I really dislike still about this truck is the dial shifter. If I could do a console shifter I would be happy! That's all this truck is missing for me right now.

I've got quite a good deal lined up on a 25 Rebel that I'd really like to pursue. I've been reading through the thread due to the engine being new, despite being in the wagoneers for a couple years. That being said, having had as many issues as you all have, I don't exactly get warm fuzzies about purchasing it. They're giving me great trade on my 4Runner that I doubt I'll get at a later date anywhere else. I had a 2014 Sport with the 5.7 and loved it, but am now very skeptical of the Hurricane engine.

Would you all, based on your issues, recommend I hold off on the purchase until the motor has had a couple of years to be worked out more adequately? I'd hate to buy it and then have to continuously have it in the shop.

Thanks
For what's worth I joined an Audi forum in 2011 when I was looking to buy my S4 (which is GDI). I still own it too. One of the major issues in 2010 and 2011 S4s was plastic water pump housings failing. A recall was issued and they went back to metal pumps. I say this to echo the previous post that forums (and this is a good thing) focus on the bad. I've learned a lot from this forum as I did that one all of those years ago.

My truck has been great. I’ve not experienced any cel or any other mechanical problems. The uconnect is a bit quirky, but that’s just software. I really like the truck- it’s a great upgrade over my 2010 Laramie. I do not miss the Hemi at all.

Are you guys all running premium gas in your trucks? SO says it'll run either 87 0r 91 or whatever the premium octane number is

I recently purchased a 2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo with 420HP. With less than 1,000 miles on it, I am incredibly frustrated to have encountered an issue with the check engine light for the second time. Despite using premium gas and driving conservatively, I have had to drop off my truck for service again.

The first time, they ran tests but found nothing. A week later, the light returned, and now my truck is back in service. The lack of online information only adds to my frustration, as I am left without any clear understanding of the cause.

This is a brand-new vehicle, and such issues highlight a significant failure in the QA process. The company must address and resolve this problem promptly. This situation is unacceptable and cannot continue.
Had to have that twin turbo huh ; You will be on a first name basis with the service dept soon. Good luck.
