2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo, SO, 420HP - check engine light

Well RamFam, I took delivery of two 1500s with the SO engine on Wednesday. Started reading up on the 2025s after buying . The truck that had to come off first had a dead battery when the driver tried to unload it. jumped it and started up... Other truck came off no problem. Was excited to get the truck I didn't look at the cluster right away. When I did, my stomach dropped, CEL on. 18 miles at delivery. Cold starts seem ok, they're not rough or anything(as far as I can tell). Build date of March

I called the service department by me that I take my 21 to. He didn't seem too pleased when I told him I didn't get the truck from them 🤷. Asked him about if he knows anything about it, he said no but they don't have a lot of 25s rolling through there. Bringing the truck in on the 14th for the earliest appointment they had.

Has everyone been driving the truck with the CEL on? I know someone said he was told it wasn't an issue. What's the consensus? Also what OBD reader should I buy that can read the codes?

I think it depends on the dealer, mine told me to drive it unless the light starts flashing (that means it’s mis-firing at that moment), my truck runs perfectly except for a few seconds at cold start.

Hey Guys new here, I’ve been following up on this thread, but just opened my account today so I can post this.

My 1500 SO also had the CEL go on at about 700 miles on sep 28th, so I took it in and they did a pcm Update Oct 1. So far the car has been running fine since than it’s at about 930 miles now no current issues no CEL. I will keep you all updated as time passes. I will also attach an image of the codes they scanned on the serviced day.

That said, my friend purchased a SO a week prior to mine and hasn’t had much luck. He has taken it in 3 times with a CEL and truck is randomly shutting off. They updated the PCM and still no luck. Since I know one of the managers that sold him the car at a persona level I’ve been updating him on what I’ve been seeing in this thread and they are going to try keep troubleshooting the problem as they did with @Russian Tank .

Please keep us informed with what you’ve experienced with your trucks no matter how small the detail is and hopefully we can get all this behind us.

Bought a OBD scanner last night, got delivered this morning. Scanned the truck that has the CEL. There were like 58 codes, all seem to be stemming from low voltage. I'm guessing starter relay is stuck because of low voltage?

A failed Aux battery and an open 150A fuse can cause the P2AF5 code. These are the 2 that set out as the place to start.

Does the CEL ever clear itself?

Got a 24 Ram Big Horn 3.6 V6 Etorque MHEV, when it hit 1k miles I noticed some clicking sound as soon I start engine. It will go away after engine warmed up, anyone got a problem like that? Is that a real engine problem or normal for Ram MHEV?
Thanks to anyone has an idea.

Does the CEL ever clear itself?

No it’s been on now for a month, the first time I cleared it myself and it took 1,134 miles before it reappeared, this time it came back the day after I got it back from the dealership. Unlike some of the people on here, my truck runs flawless after the first cold start of the day, I’m just waiting on the dealer to call me back to set up a time to do the “tsb”. I believed all along that it was software related for most people, what I can’t understand is the fact that my friend bought a truck made in the same month and he hasn’t had any problems, doesn’t make sense.

Then perhaps it's not all software, maybe it's an interaction between software and hardware that is marginal on some trucks. Essentially, a form of tolerance stacking that's predisposed to cause problems because of stuff we don't know yet.

this is alll crazy nhtsa website there is 48 tsb since july on our trucks for people with misfires shifting and surging it could be oxygen sensors wire harness intake tube all hoses not connected or missing gasket you see this all on the website even actual pictures of all these things i go in tomorrow for my pcm iscm update hope it works

just complaining so in tsb it says to hook battery charger up to truck while doing update don't let truck drop below 13.0 volts or above 13.5 volts and on these new one volts are low when just in run position maybe this is why some update aren't taken to the truck to many computers now a gas car will need a battery as big as a electric car soon lol

Same here you can here it’s skip a little when first started then fine. Wonder what that could be

So it finally happened. Remote started the truck today and I heard it abruptly shut off. Went out and saw “Remote Start Cancelled, Restart Truck to Reset” Turned truck back on and the check engine light was on.

Code Reader shows:

P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire), P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire) , P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) and P0300 (multiple misfires)

Build date is 7/24. 1800 miles on it so far.

Heres the kicker…called the dealership to see if they had the update available for the referenced tsb. They couldn’t find a TSB for misfiring. Told them the attached TSB number which they found immediately. Then they said they can’t push that update if they are the only codes showing. It must also throw one of codes that’s under “must have” symptoms. Makes absolutely no sense to me but taking it in Wednesday and gonna “*****” if the techs still say that since it says the update will fix the misfiring….

is there another TSB out explicitly for the P0300 codes being the main symptom?

Well, a new one happened today. My truck has been running great since they said they did an update awhile back. I've put about 6,000 trouble free miles on since that time.

I took it in for an oil change this morning at the dealership and it started up fine this morning. As I'm sitting there the Service Advisor comes and asks if I every have problems with it starting. He said he pushed the button and it just kept turning over without firing up. I went out to check it out and yep, the starter just keeps going and the pickup won't start. Luckily they have an opening this afternoon to check it out. He also said at first it wouldn't recognize the key, which my 2019 would do the same occasionally.

What a pain in the butt this thing is turning out to be.

yes there is a tsb just for misfire codes and in description it says customer may also have hesitation surging harsh shifting its on nhtsa website scroll down its under manufacturers communication 48 of them and then hit associated documents and get full description hope this helps
