2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo, SO, 420HP - check engine light

After 18 days of sitting in the lot, finally had to go over there and talk to the service manager so they could get my truck looked at. They told me the same as mentioned above that there is a TSB update they are doing and they hope that it clears the problem. They told me they have to perform 5 trouble free cold starts before they can return my truck. Fingers crossed!

As much as I'd like to upgrade to these new trucks, I'm a little concerned so many are having these cel issues with a vehicle right out of the factory that has such a high price tag!
You should be concerned. Had I known the extent of the problems I likely wouldn't have bought one.

What exactly is going on cold starts? It’s misfiring on cold starts? Does it stutter or shake? Or does it just make a certain noise on misfire?

no one really has ben posting last few days guess people that got tsb update must have fixed it

You could hear it misfiring and the RPM's would drop quite a bit when it did.
Ah gotcha thanks, I had a 97 Malibu that misfired all the time but the engine had a tick to it and it was old so I never knew when it was misfiring and when it wasn’t, never stopped me from driving though.

I've only driven my truck like 5 miles since I got the update, so it's way too early to tell whether it fixed mine or not.

I hope to get mine back early next week. They just had to verify that the code didn't come back on after 5 cold starts.

I got the 2025 rebel build date 8/20. No cel codes so far. I did get an unable to read tpms twice but went away. I drive 220 miles round trip to work so only highway miles. On my 3rd trip. Funny thing is that sensor message happened in the same exact spot on the freeway both time

Got the update last Tuesday and it seems fixed now. Cold start is smooth now and no more stumbling around 1000-2000 rpm

Well RamFam, I took delivery of two 1500s with the SO engine on Wednesday. Started reading up on the 2025s after buying 😩. The truck that had to come off first had a dead battery when the driver tried to unload it. jumped it and started up... Other truck came off no problem. Was excited to get the truck I didn't look at the cluster right away. When I did, my stomach dropped, CEL on. 18 miles at delivery. Cold starts seem ok, they're not rough or anything(as far as I can tell). Build date of March

I called the service department by me that I take my 21 to. He didn't seem too pleased when I told him I didn't get the truck from them 🤷. Asked him about if he knows anything about it, he said no but they don't have a lot of 25s rolling through there. Bringing the truck in on the 14th for the earliest appointment they had.

Has everyone been driving the truck with the CEL on? I know someone said he was told it wasn't an issue. What's the consensus? Also what OBD reader should I buy that can read the codes?
😩😩😩😩😩

I was really close to pulling the trigger on one of these new Rams until I saw all these issues. The one I looked at was waiting to be checked in at dealers service after being delivered from the factory with the cel on. These trucks are a lot of money and it's making me think I need to wait, or maybe look at the 2500 with Cummins. I'm beginning to believe Stellantis is not doing the brand any good.

I'd hold off. The use of the SST in the Grand Wagoneer may have given me a false sense of maturity for this engine. Looking back at an old Car-n-Driver article, it looks like the 2023 GW SST implementation was the HO version at 510hp. Since most of the misfiring reports are on the 420hp SO version, I have to wonder if it lacks the same level of understanding.
The SO was in the regular Wagoneer and HO in the Grand Wagoneer.

Just got my SST SO back today. Dealer did all the TSBs which alone did not resolve the issue. The StarCase directive also helped them find a folded gasket on a (the?) throttle body that was causing an air leak. CEL clear, fingers crossed.

87 with ethanol. Also have run 91/89 for towing when it was hot but not sure I needed to do that. No CEL after 2200 miles
Before I picked up my truck I emailed them and asked them to fill with 91. It was already filled before I emailed and they used 87. I was wondering what to use on my first fill up

Do you know your build date out of curiosity?

My new laramie has about 230 miles on it. The SES light has not come on. I checked for pending misfire codes yesterday and there were none, so that's encouraging. To be clear, I've had no symptoms of any problem at all, I just decided to check preemptively in case some were pending.
Build date?

So they missed the TSB/Star case to look at the seals in the air tubes

As described by the SA, then yes. He stated the StarCase comms was what prompted investigation of the throttle body seal.
