Looking at the Youtube video: did a " cut & paste " from the Gearheads explanation. Does not take a rocket scientist to understand what is happening.
"The new Hemi 5.7 engines have a common issue leading to misfire codes such as this ones P0300 and thru P0308, with no signs of ignition or fuel issues. Are the new engines junk? How do you Diagnose this problem properly without throwing money at the wrong thing? All this and more discussed in this video! If your ever looking for more tools to get started or add to your collection check out the page on our website for great recommendations - https://www.gearheads-garage.com/tools/
...Part 2...from video ..." I used to work for FCA, tech support. Take a good look at the valve guide tolerances, 1/2 a thou, to 1.9 thou. Is a bit tight.(for oil/emission control). When the guide sticks, the rocker arm refuses to move, the push-rod resists bending, the bearings in the roller crush, the lifter wipes out the lobe. "

See if you can get the factory TSB ( Technical Service Bulletin ) that highlighted the lifter / cam problem. For a more technical explanation go to YouTube on what happened to lifters with the 5.7L and what some of the symptoms are before total failure. The real issue is... playing the back and forth game with the dealer / service department. :(
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it. I also picked up a obd2 logger today. Just in case I get no where with the dealer again.

Just got a call back from the dealer. Said they found a faulty lifter. Seems as though they only appeased me after contacting Chrysler directly. It's terrible that u have to tell mommy, to get something done. All in all, I'm happy something was done this time. I am surprised they didn't change the cam shaft though. So I will be listening and logging for that. Thanks for the support!

I just picked up and brought it right back. I left the truck running and called them back outside. The mechanic said it's new u have to let it run for a few miles. I said get the scan tool and prove to me it's not misfiring. He hooked it up and again cylinder 6 misfiring. you just can't make this stuff up.

My piece of **** 19 Ram limited non e-torq is mis firing again literally the day before my lake trip. Second time this has happened. Of course it's a Saturday and the dealership said they can't see it till Wednesday. So glad FCA already is buying it back as a lemon for other issues, such as navigation failing several times and they refuse to replace it (7) service visits to be exact, and front air strut failed after 1,800 miles. This is my second ram in the past 10 year. Will never come back to RAM/FCA, their customer service is ****, and QC is ****.

I just had my engine replaced. It took a month and a half because of part shortages. They told me when I came in I was their 7th one that needed a new engine and when I came to pick it up today they said they had 6 more with 3 towed in this morning. I’m waiting on my paperwork to be mailed to me to see exactly what happened but my service advisor told me my fuel pump was pumping pieces of metal into my engine. My first ram and last ram just waiting on the 4 door bronco now. I’ll update when I get the paperwork.

Curious ... what areas are these failing trucks / engines from ? A particular dealer zone, therefore a particular lot of engines ?
Any date codes available ? Because of this virus confinement I've not been able to travel much. So little mileage on the '19 purchased last November. Thank you.

I'm a little confused. Your member picture is that of a Ram 1500, yet the work order states it's a 2500. The VIN indicates it's a 4x4 Crew Cab Short Bed Laramie. Is that correct?

Dusty

My 2019 Ram 1500 engine light comes on when its cold out. When I use my scan tool it says misfire. It's been doing this for 2yrs. I had the dealer look at it. The second time they told me they were going to do a software update to stop the engine light from coming on. The light comes on in November and by April the light doesn't come back on.

I would think, regardless of TSBs or software updates, that an experienced tech would scan for a possible lean misfire condition judging from the symptom set. A scan tool should be able to detect which cylinder was affected since you experienced Check Engine Lamp. My first suspect would be a fuel injector.

Dusty

We apologize for the trouble! If you decide to address this any further with your dealer, we are more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside both you and your dealer to exhaust all resources of assistance while your truck is in service. We are always a PM away!

During the summer months it idles a little ruff but no engine light. I told the dealer about it last oil change and they said its normal. When I start the truck it would idle around 1,500 rpms and slowly drop to around 500 rpms. Now that's it's cold out engine light comes on and I get a misfire code.

Bought my BigHorn Quad hemi 9/24/20. 10/1 sounded like it was rapping from bottom end. Went to local dealer to take listen. They couldn't do much without taking pan off, but it would sit for a few days. I had it towed to dealer bought from with 400 miles. They had it till 10/6, no noise no nothing. 10/21 truck fells like it running in limp mode, I get 2 miles from dealer and engine quits. Diagnosed that afternoon(with 870 miles on it) as seized motor.

Turns out reluctor wheel or tone ring on crankshaft came loose on shaft and broke apart lodging pieces of it into crank journals seizing motor.

It took until this morning for RAM to get me an engine...17 days. I was just writing my demand letter to FCA for repair as Mass has a 15 day out of service clause for lemon law. After the 15 days, you can send a letter demanding repair within next 7 days after they receive letter. If not repaired, you are entitled to replacement or money back. I just learned this here last night.

Looks like I'll have my truck back on Monday.

My truck is a lease so I'm not trying to push the issue I just want it fixed. If I owned the truck I'd be all over them to fix it. I use my dad's Employee Discount and with using that you can't sue or do a lemon law.

Did they use a scan tool to look at the code(s)?

The service advisor plugged her adapter in the truck to get the codes. I also gave her the printout from autozone they gave me when I used there scan tool. They did a software update and cleared the code. About a week went by and it came right back. Only cold months engine light comes on.

Without knowing what software update was used it's hard to comment, but whatever it was doesn't sound like it fixed the problem. The software update might've applied, but it's a possibility there's still a hard failure.

By any chance did they flash per TSB 21-009-20? (should be on your work order)
