Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it. I also picked up a obd2 logger today. Just in case I get no where with the dealer again.See if you can get the factory TSB ( Technical Service Bulletin ) that highlighted the lifter / cam problem. For a more technical explanation go to YouTube on what happened to lifters with the 5.7L and what some of the symptoms are before total failure. The real issue is... playing the back and forth game with the dealer / service department.
Just got a call back from the dealer. Said they found a faulty lifter. Seems as though they only appeased me after contacting Chrysler directly. It's terrible that u have to tell mommy, to get something done. All in all, I'm happy something was done this time. I am surprised they didn't change the cam shaft though. Yea I never noticed that It’s a typo on their part.
I would think, regardless of TSBs or software updates, that an experienced tech would scan for a possible lean misfire condition judging from the symptom set. A scan tool should be able to detect which cylinder was affected since you experienced Check Engine Lamp. My first suspect would be a fuel injector.

During the summer months it idles a little ruff but no engine light. I told the dealer about it last oil change and they said its normal. When I start the truck it would idle around 1,500 rpms and slowly drop to around 500 rpms. Now that's it's cold out engine light comes on and I get a misfire code.
My truck is a lease so I'm not trying to push the issue I just want it fixed. If I owned the truck I'd be all over them to fix it. I use my dad's Employee Discount and with using that you can't sue or do a lemon law.
Did they use a scan tool to look at the code(s)?
The service advisor plugged her adapter in the truck to get the codes. I also gave her the printout from autozone they gave me when I used there scan tool. They did a software update and cleared the code. About a week went by and it came right back. Only cold months engine light comes on.
Without knowing what software update was used it's hard to comment, but whatever it was doesn't sound like it fixed the problem. The software update might've applied, but it's a possibility there's still a hard failure.
