2019 Longhorn Laramie Squealing Brakes

My brakes were “fixed” per the TSB. I’ve had front pads replaced, as well as rear brakes done. Now it’s squealing between 20-40 mph. In addition to the loud clank at startup every so often, and the shaking when in stop and go traffic or backing out of driveway, I’m about ready to drive this thing into a bridge embankment!!! Anybody know what my options are with this thing?

I know this is off topic for the this thread, but is your loud clank at startup more of a "pop" sound similar to a backfire? Mine does something every now and again that sounds like the timing is off and it's getting early detonation, but it doesn't happen frequently enough for me to even consider taking it in as I'd get the dreaded "cannot duplicate" for sure from the mechanic.

No, it’s a hard “clank” sound, like someone is hitting your driveline with a ballpeen hammer!

It’s a pad and caliper issue. Mine did the exact same thing until I had pads AND calipers changed. 200 miles in city driving and no sound yet.

Hey Alex, bought my 2019 Laramie Longhorn this past Feburary. Just under 3k on it and it has been groaning in reverse on colder, wet days from the beginning. I was hoping it would just wear itself in and disappear, wishful thinking. I suppose Ill need to take it to the dealer but thought I would begin documenting it here with RamCares.

My local dealer was of no help to me. They told me the TSB did not apply and offered to do nothing (mine was built a month outside of the TSB in October 2018). Very frustrating. It has been howling in reverse since the winter and now that the weather has turned warmer, the sound occurs only after a heavy rain and when it is cold and damp out after the truck has sat overnight.

Need some help/advice on what to do, as the sound is very embarrassing. I have 8,000 miles on the truck and will be pissed if my repair is denied because it takes over the 12,000 mile mark to get the problem resolved.

I had my front rotors and pads replaced last week, but after a week of relatively quiet driving and a few quick road trips (500+ miles) the squeal came back. They didn't replace my calipers, and it had me wondering. I already have an appointment to take my truck in next week for them to address the rear brakes per the TSB (parts came in), so I'll add the squeal to the shop order and see if they can figure it out. I don't know if it's coming from the front or rear, but given it was "fixed" for about a week before coming back I'm willing to bet its the front again.

I was driving my 1995 Wrangler over the weekend and never heard a sound out of my brakes, but my 2019 truck has sounded like a school bus since Day 1. Crazy!

You’ll need calipers. I have 800 miles since the fix and they are still quiet.

I’ve decided NOT to have my 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie Sport factory brake pads replaced under the TSB even though my dealer has ordered them. Here’s why:

My RAM was built 10/18 and its brakes do squeal occasionally under light (touching) application, but are smooth, QUIET and STRONG under hard use, do not fade AND produce practically no brake dust. My RAM has 4-Corner air suspension and corners GREAT at speed. It’s 8 speed transmission is smoothest under aggressive (roll on throttle) acceleration. I keep 89 octane fuel in the tank.

I used to have a Mustang set up for autocross racing and my new RAM 1500 Laramie Sport is the 5,500 pound version of it. It is too much fun to drive exactly how set up from the factory for me to mess with the brake pads, so I’ll continue to carry speed into the corners, brake late and HARD, roll onto throttle through the turn and ENJOY my big luxury autocross racer. The occasional brake squeal is just the RAM telling me to stop driving like my grandma.

I took my truck to the dealer and they told me they don't have a parts to replace the brake pads etc... They sent me home with the truck still making loud noise. They told me to contact me whenever they have the parts to replace.
Most of other people would have the same problems like I do but it's really bad that Chrysler don't even keep up with the parts to replace for customers and they don't even recall or noticed to customer about the issues... Only to let customers find out and then take it to the dealer but still no result and wasting a lot of time for customers go back and forward.

Just want to give a shout out to Susan of Ram Cares for giving attention to my grunting/squealing brakes. She saw to it that the necessary parts were ordered, shipped and coordinated with my dealership to get them installed. So far no backing groan, however I did hear a squeal while breaking while decelerating on the freeway exit ramp, I see if that continues.

I can't believe spent 50k on the truck and have these problem. If customers keep coming with an issued> then Chrysler seem not to care about it.

mine happens first think in the morning, cold and wet, no other times, will replace when they are worn out..
