Short story is that at 65,000 miles my head gasket blew out. I'm religious about changing oil and maintaining it not to mention babying the motor. The heaviest thing I've ever towed is 2 yards of mulch in a 4x6 trailer. I'm kicking myself for trading in my Chevy for this now $6,000 repair job...
I am having the same issue and would like to repair & replace this myself.
@youngjkin, if the dealer repair is successful, can you post a photo of your work order so we can see the replacement p/n's and any other pertinent information?
Has anyone done this repair themselves?
Does anyone know...
Good work my friend. I did forget to mention in my post that the rollover valve is molded into the gas tank, so it is not a replacement part. You have to buy the whole tank.
I had the fuel filling shutoff problem on mine. Key to getting the correct parts is to have the dealer look up the appropriate gas tank and evaporative canister p/n's based on your VIN number. In my case I had a local SnapOn tool guy find me a RAM mechanic who'd do it for cash. Parts were about...
Can anyone supply the check valve part number mentioned/described above? I am working my way thru replacement parts starting with the cheapest first.
On this and another thread, the vapor canister replacement did the trick. This didn't work for me and I used the updated 2 canister version.
you mention they replaced the check valve. Could you please share the check valve p/n with us? I would assume it should be on your receipt from the dealer.
Just wanted to say that this forum is an absolute godsend in that out of all of our experiences comes the sharing of solutions such as the TSB's & STAR cases so that when we get into the dealers we tell them what needs to be fixed versus us relying on them to diagnose and guess how to fix out...
I got the V6 only because I heard the 11 or 13 MPG Hemi horror stories in this forum. I have 15k on it and am averaging about 20 MPG.
I have no regrets coming from a 17 Silverado V8 in that the V6 does what I need it to do and I'm not shy about hammering it down to pass on the two lane roads...
In talking with a Chevy dealer and also the Ram dealer where I bought both my trucks, each one said if you have the luxury, the best incentives in a normal year are June thru August. Contrary to that, I bought mine in December when the Ram still had the employee pricing going on. My Ram dealer...
The truth is I got a fantastic deal on a Limited but it came with the V6. I traded my 2017 Silverado in on it that only got 15 MPG so I figured I couldn't lose.
WIth all that said, I have zero regrets because the V6 has pulled me thru pretty nasty terrain in the back woods of Michigan with a...
I agree with a previous poster that the forum is a place to vent when you have a truck with issues or a bad dealer experience. I'm perfectly happy with mine and would absolutely buy another. Note that I traded a 2017 Silverado in for mine and the difference is night and day.
Smerberj, not sure if you were asking me the question about 1,000 mile oil change? Anyway, my oil was plenty dark and also had the "you waited too long" smell to it @ 3,300 miles. Having worked in the industry in my younger days, I do have a good background in this. So in hindsight I just wanted...
I've got a 2019 Limited w/Level 1 equipment group therefore I can't compare it to the Longhorn. However, the std options of the Limited along with the Level 1 options are absolutely outstanding in my opinion. I am still discovering additional bells and whistles and I've owned it since December...
I got mine a couple weeks ago. My Harmon Kardon now blows me out of the truck at 20 volume level so I know I'm finally getting the 900 watts of power that I paid for. Haven't noticed any other changes. My 2019 Ram Limited is light years ahead of the 2017 Silverado I traded in for it! I...
