HOW TO: Add 360 Surround View Camera System

FYI for the Jimmy Harness

The connector plugs and not the CVPM.
The ground ring goes to the ground bolt near the CVPM.
The rest of the harness routes over to the driver side.
The fuse tap goes into F26, and the fuse that was originally in F26 goes into the open slot on the fuse tap.
The green connector plugs into any open spot on the canbus junction block behind the headlight switch.

@vincentw56 can you update the original thread with this? and add this video?

Thank you @vincentw56 and @Jimmy07 for the detailed write up and wiring. Finally got everything to work and the magical number to get front camera calibration was 2-3mph. I do see a softkey for all the cameras at bottom half of my screen except front camera. Is it normal or am i missing something to enable the front camera softkey? I can select it in the surround view at top half of screen but just wondering…

I installed everything. Now I just get “Camera System Unavailable”. Before and after the OBD changes. Any ideas what I did wrong? I connected the cable from Jimmy07 to F26 and plugged the green connector to the place it was suppose to go. Still, no cameras.

Check power and ground at cvpm connector and make sure you have right pn# for camera and cvpm. Also check radio, camera and cvpm connections aren’t mixed up.

I checked the power and ground. The CVPM part number is the one for my truck. It is brand new. I changed where the green connector on the junction block was. No change. The only thing I can think is I plugged the red (maroon) connector into the cable to the cvpm and radio.

Yeah if the cvpm has power and connected to radio you should see something on screen. Try “ecu reset” on radio in alpha 2-3 times. If still nothing then probably something isn’t connected right or faulty

It turns out that the connector in the back of the radio had come out of the plastic piece. Now it works.

How did you guys handle the front camera mount? My front grill emblem does not come out. I had to improvise as I didn't want to buy a new one and while the truck was disassembled. I cut the A housing and fit it in as much as I can.

My grill and emblem are both aftermarket so my solutions was unique. I drilled a hole and epoxied the bracket to the back. I am not 100 percent happy with my set up because i can see the emblem in my camera and its kinda like wearing horse blinders…

Ya, I am not too happy with it either. I am worried that it might rattle its way out overtime. I might go back put in some screws and clamps.

Your grill emblem should come out. Might be clipped or screwed from the back side.you should be able to get an emblem with camera mount in it.

Got everything working today. Calibrated all cameras and surround view worked and so did grid lines (no soft keys for left and right mirrors-cameras did show on surround view), disconnected computer from the CVPM and it lost the calibration. The surround view only shows my truck (black around truck). The front and rear cameras still work (soft keys), no grid lines. Also, when it was calibrated, there were no soft keys for the left and right cameras. Is there something I need to do before disconnecting from alphaOBD? 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel. UC4 8.4" added tow mirrors, using CVPM 68451000AE.

I saw t
I bought similar ebay knock offs and they sucked, i sent them back and found used mirrors with cameras on this site

I saw them on eBay and Amazon (link below for Amazon). I thought what could be different? Then I thought again, I tried using a knockoff in the past when I upgraded the UConnect in my 2006 Power Wagon, but the quality was really crappy and didn't always work, and went back to OEM. Never again! :)

Knockoff: 68144068AC-Replacement-68144068AB-68144068AD MSRP: $129.00 $119.99 x4 $480.00

So, I am researching this, based on the original post in this thread (by vincentw56, posted on Dec 8, 2022), for my used but new to me, 2022 Level 1 TRX. I really wanted the Level 2, but none around for this price and color (black/black). I got this far, but I have some questions.

1. If I buy the two mirrors, do I need to buy the cameras for them, since I am assuming the cameras and proximity sensors are built-in? I looked at my mirrors and I don't see where I can just buy a camera and put them in, unless I am missing something

2. Is the list below in order?

3. Is it worth this money and such? My eventual goal is trade it on a 2026 Redeye version, so not sure if I want to pursue this in addition to changing to smart door handles like my 392 Rubi, even though it is cool.

Total parts, based on assumptions: $2,858.9

I assume the higher number due to price increases the past few years
