As I read through this thread. I’m so happy I checked the GT box, when I ordered my Ram Rebel. Looking forward to installing my TRX steering wheel. Hopefully my work schedule will open up, and I can get this done soon.
I hadn't thought about the vibration for Lane Departure Assist, but I feel like that is probably done through the steering column, not the steering wheel rim(??).For anyone that's done this swap, have you been able to retain the heated steering wheel functionality as well as the vibration for the lane departure assist?
Yeah that's just it, I can't find anything out on the web that's definitive about it. I found a Google AI summary that seems to pulled the motor is in the steering wheel from someone, but it's the same AI that said AlfaOBD works on the 2025... To me it makes more sense the shaker motor is in the steering column and is linked to the motor that pulls the wheel back to center line. I seriously doubt Stellantis would invest that much money into a steering wheel that's in a Bighorn/Lonestar... Maybe for the Limited or Tungsten that have the "auto pilot" or whatever they call it. So I saw that a bunch of guys here had swapped their wheels and hoped maybe they might know...I hadn't thought about the vibration for Lane Departure Assist, but I feel like that is probably done through the steering column, not the steering wheel rim(??).
are you certain you didn't miss any plugs?Hello everyone,
Just finished installing a TRX steering wheel from ebay, I have a 2023 ram 1500 ecodiesel limited with digital cluster,
Everything except the paddles works, (not even as gear limiter like original steering)
Any advice? I tried alfaobd and set the 2 settings to yes but had to switch back as it deleted the D1 ect from cluster, not sure what's the issue as others mentioned that they've simply swapped and the paddles works as limiter at least..
I swapped the left buttons but not the right ones (the ones with ACC on it) could that be the issue? My original doesn't have ACC
And I've read the whole thread and didn't find anything, maybe I missed it, If I did my apologies,
Thank you guys for all your help in advance..

Just went to the truck again took everything apart, double checked all connections, changed the switch for the one originally in it and still doesn't work, maybe it's damaged, not sure..are you certain you didn't miss any plugs?
I simply installed it and nothing, then I changed only the 2 settings in alfaobd to yes and lost the Gear icon on dashboard and nothing so reverse it back and still nothing, I even swapped the buttons with my originals just in case and no go, maybe there's a broken wire somewhere of the paddles because don't see any other option.. was even considering buying the wiring New and tryingunless the eco diesels are different in some way, the wheel should be plug and play, and the paddles will work as gear limiter buttons.
unless something got messed up in alfa. which bcm settings have you tried?
hmm... that is indeed puzzling. Maybe Jimmy can help (i'd tag him but i forgot which Jimmy he is LOL)Just went to the truck again took everything apart, double checked all connections, changed the switch for the one originally in it and still doesn't work, maybe it's damaged, not sure..
Yes, it always works, as soon as I did the alfaobd changes to see if that would make the paddles work it displayed - - instead of D,you sure the gear indicator was working before? I'm working with another ram owner that did a cluster swap and he's also unable to get gear indicator to display..but he also has paddles and a cluster swap and some other mods, so I dont know if its a TCM issue, or if its something else that got screwed up along the way.

yes him
this is really odd. I have a friend with a cluster swap and also is receiving the "--" display. but his truck is not factory digital cluster and is modded, has alternate TCM, etc. your truck being factory digital cluster, and working before bcm changes, makes me think there has to be some sort of config that got buggered in the bcm.Yes, it always works, as soon as I did the alfaobd changes to see if that would make the paddles work it displayed - - instead of D,
just for clarification, I have full digital cluster from factory not sure if it has something to do with, also spoke with the seller of the steering wheel and he said that particular wheel has less then 100 miles on it and I believe it because it's super clean and mint condition, he offered to swap just in case but it'll take him around 2 weeks or so to get another one,
So weird as everything else works perfectly except the paddles, the original wheel has the gear limiter and works as intended, my truck only has 18k miles now, maybe something else is interfering like Tazer or the NoLimitz,
Thanks a lot you guys for all the input, trying to get to the bottom of this for me and anyone that could have this happen to..
Just to be clear, this is really odd. do you have a backup from alfa? all I can think is run your current alfa config thru diffchecker dot com and maybe something is getting missed?
