2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo, SO, 420HP - check engine light

If you are exhibiting the customer symptoms described in a tsb, it is covered under warranty. If you are not exhibiting symptoms of a tsb, and you tell them to perform the tab flash anyway, you have to pay yourself. Since your VIN is listed as an RSU, I would see if they can double check your vehicle and see if you are owed a refund for paying out of pocket.
When they hook up to your truck, they will see a topography screen of all the modules on the vehicle, similar to the pic below. Any modules that have an available flash will show the green circle with white flash bolt.

Ok thanks, do you happen to know if there’s any more misfire or transmission updates in the works by chance?

who wishes they had their hemi back ? also the dealerships don't wanna even try to figure anything out unless there is a cel even then good luck.

I recently purchased a 2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo with 420HP. With less than 1,000 miles on it, I am incredibly frustrated to have encountered an issue with the check engine light for the second time. Despite using premium gas and driving conservatively, I have had to drop off my truck for service again.

The first time, they ran tests but found nothing. A week later, the light returned, and now my truck is back in service. The lack of online information only adds to my frustration, as I am left without any clear understanding of the cause.

This is a brand-new vehicle, and such issues highlight a significant failure in the QA process. The company must address and resolve this problem promptly. This situation is unacceptable and cannot continue.
My 25’ bighorn has 950 miles on it and so far so good. I have noticed a slight rough high idle on cold start and started to read up on it. The high idle is normal I understand but the rough idle I’m reading is throwing a code eventually that pertains to a PCM update. Fingers crossed it’s a simple fix if it does occur. I’m sure there will be a couple bugs on these new trucks. Loving the truck though even though I miss the Hemi sound some days.

The new thing I’m concerned about is the brakes failing that a user just posted about they had a little over 2000 miles and the dealer said there where 6 other cases of this

I hadn’t seen that yet but yeah that’s a concern for sure. I’ll keep eyes open for more talk on that matter. I haven’t pulled my 7x12 inclosed yet with the new truck but I will be this week. I’m curious how it handles breaking with it. One thing I did find interesting is the 19’ bighorn with the 5.7 I had before this, held itself better on downhill grades. This 25’ likes to pick up speed pretty quick so more break applications.

I heard about that, hopefully tow mode slows it down, if not you can always use the steering wheel controls to change your gear

brakes don't seem to be as good as my 21 but i have a rebel those big tires are harder to stop 21 brake pads were awesome traded at 47000 front brake pads thick as my thumb still a lot of highway tho look truck runs great but there is sone kind of double surge at low rpm driving

I traded my 19 with 118k and that truck was still solid as a rock. Everytime I drive past the dealer I wonder if I did right lol. The break pads on that 19 were still good on the front, I never changed them. Wild! But yeah I am loving the new 25 just have the same concerns as others for sure. Just hit 1k miles this morning and she’s been great. MPG is at 19.5 for 1k miles. At highway speed daily to work and home I get 20-24. My 19 was leveled with 20x10’s and nittos on it.. it averaged 16. So I like the bump in mileage so far.

So far I have not noticed any performance issues with the brakes but they do produce more brake dust and I think they run hotter then the old one. After a short 2 mile drive I went to wash my truck and when hitting the brakes with the hose the brakes where steaming like crazy already.

surging shuttering still this sucks man less people posting everyone truck fixed or got rid of it or is everyone just putin up with it no cel i haven't found one that docent do it unless you shift above 3000 2500 rpms 3000 miles now 93 octane changed oil put 0 40 in runs even quieter pennzoil srt oil mobil 1 extended performance oil filters best filter ever to see oil clean

Unfortunately with this 2025 truck I'm thinking there are a lot of problems and a one stop shop isn't gonna catch all the problems.

so no one on here accept for russian tank truck got fixed no one here has gotten surging fixed

I’m having a hard time understanding your posts- your writing can be hard to follow. I don’t understand what you mean by shuttering.

My truck , made on 4/24, hasn’t had any CEL/MIL. My cold start seems high (1700+rpm) and it takes over a minute to come down to 1000 rpm or less and some slight reving during the cold start. My Uconnect is quirky- occasionally changing my language preferences to Italian and dumping my radio preferences. Otherwise, it's been a great upgrade over my 2010 1500 Laramie. It’s more comfortable and quieter than my old truck. I don't even miss the Hemi. My truck runs great.

I called ram service or whatever it's called and requested a buyback. The lady said they'll talk to the dealership it's at and I should hear from someone in 2 to 3 business days.

Mine was a fuel pump and the CEL has been off since the last service completed. I had my 5000 mile initial service today and so far so good.

Same here with the cold start higher RPM. It takes a bit longer than the hemi to come back down, but I also have noticed some “rough idle” or uneven sound (idle) during that period. May be nothing, but I’m following close on that. I’ve read about codes being thrown and it pertaining to a PCM update for a misfire. We shal see. I love my 25 so far. I believe the surge he’s talking about is at low rpm and maybe slower speeds. I noticed in town yesterday at maybe 35, steady throttle, I could feel a very slight surge (lunge) from the drivetrain, it’s a very slight feeling but I noticed it. Again could be nothing to worry about. No lights yet so we will see🤘🏻

I'm at 820 miles. To me the cold start high idle isn't concerning. It's consistent. Not unlike cold starting my 1970 Chevy C10. What isn't consistent is high idle after warmup. At long stop lights I normally shift into park. I've done so a few times on this truck and idle will rise to 1200 or so. That's strange on a warmed-up engine. My guess is they are still messing with software and we are all beta testing for them. I seem to have a weird 3-4 shift under light throttle but I'll keep making a note of that. My apple car play is quirky too. I also wanted to comment about is some electrical sounds after shutdown. Like switch clicking is a way that I might describe it? It happens maybe 1-2 minutes after shutdown. Along with that, when unlocking the door there is a clear electrical sound (not door locks), almost like an electric pump. I'll have to take a recording of that so I can attach it to a post.

Coolant pump for turbos run for about 15 mins after shut down. Truck dose make weird noises sometimes hours after shut down when i walk in my driveway i hear it transformer truck like its recognizes i am coming. Sorry if my typing is not easy to understand sometimes. I have shutter and always double surge slow driving wot great super slow great. . Maybe i drive slower than most i watch videos and most people shift around 3000 rpms . I like shifting 2300 then 1900 and lower as i go thru gears and for last 20 years hemi did it great not this engine. thanks for all feed back guys.

Have they looked at the fuel pump? Sorry if this might be unrelated...trying to help.
