I just did a couple of tanks mostly freeway with some city. Averaged 22 mpg. I was in stop and go at times, also running 75 or little more at times. I used Costco 91 octane. Truck is Laramie 2wd. Truck has just over 6K miles. I think 23-24 might be there if the tires are a hair in the high side...
I feel your pain. I don't think there is a really great company any more though. Hondas and Toyotas used to be praised as the best overall, but I know people that have had issues, and heard about many more. We've had a couple of Mazda cars, and IMHO they are the best these days. I wish they made...
I don't think the sticker MPG is honest. I had an e-torque 5.7 Limited. It said 20 in town, 25 highway, 22 average, 2WD, 3.21. I was lucky to average 16. I had a 3.92 before that that was about the same. I had a 2009 and a 2014 5.7, non e-torque, both were better. My 2wd 2025 SO gets about 22-23...
I'd want to know for sure. Those numbers for some of the other trucks are IMHO waaay high for a 4wd with lift and big tires. Waaay high.
I've had several 2wd 5.7's and my SO beats it by 2mpg. The Rebel is a gas user config for sure. I've had friends with ecoboost trucks and they don't get that...
Are all of those trucks in the test chart 4WD? Lift, tire, configuration makes a lot of difference. Tire pressure and condition can make a difference.
Keeping configuration the same would be a good test.
I've owned a few of the 5.7's. My 2009 was really the best. I had 2 e-torques, both of which were disappointing. One was 3.92 rear, other was 3.21. 3.92 was more responsive of course.
The 3.0 SO is more responsive and makes better torque without doubt.
If you haven't driven one yet, do it. My...
Just did a hand calc of the last tank, all around the city, little short runs on the freeway mixed with a 5.5 mile commute to and from work, all on city streets.
17.5 mpg. Gauges said 18. It's interesting how sometimes it matches up with hand calc so far, and sometimes off. I can live with it...
Mine has been trouble free. Purchased from Mark Dodge and trucked to Ca.
Just under 2K miles, mostly mixed around town, with 1 run to Scottsdale and back. Response to throttle is better than any of the 5.7's I owned. I like it a lot better than the any e-torque 5.7 I had. MPG is about 2 better...
I had a 2019 a while back. The SST is a lot better than my e-torque was. More responsive, more torque at lower rpm. Interior quality seems better too. Lifter issues in the 5.7 aren't likely to get better.
Good luck with your decision.
My new white 1500 Laramie was delivered today. I'm another happy customer of Mark Dodge. (thanks Aaron and crew!) They served up a better deal than anyone local, by a fair bit. They had this truck in stock. With everything going on I wasn't sure I wanted to go through the ordering process...
I like the newer truck. The yellow is sweet, but the front end on the red looks great. The chrome on the windows also dresses it up some.
I've had several earlier Ram Trucks, and just rec'd my 2025. The response of the SST is really nice.
I've had my truck from Mark Dodge for a few weeks now. Mine was $1500 IIRC for delivery to SoCal. The guy doing the delivery ended up with a delay - he said it was due to mechanical, but I think he was managing some extra pick up and deliveries. It took and extra day and a half, not a huge deal...
They don't want to over promise. I hope your truck beats that schedule. They told me the same, but mine beat the schedule. Mine was built about 6 weeks from order date, but took another month for delivery to the dealer. Transport system is just over loaded.
