If your budget is around $40k, then the Limited (& Laramie) is out of your price range. You'd be better off going with a Tradesman or a low-optioned Big Horn.
I was looking at one dealer that had 30% off MSRP (Nissan, not Ram). When I called them, was told the prices were conditional. I hate when they do that!
In addition to new Rams, I've been looking at Nissan Frontiers. Most dealers are offering very little off of MSRP; it seems the prices have increased since yesterday (March 31).
If the OP wants reliability, buy a 2019 Nissan Frontier. It's had the same styling and powertrain since 2005, so all the bugs have been worked out long ago. Plus, they're relatively cheap.
In fact, with all the Ram problems I've been reading about, I'm beginning to lean that way myself.
Thanks for looking. My local dealer has one identical, except it adds a tonneau cover. Neither have the anti-spin differential. Otherwise, they check all the boxes.
This is my "dream Ram" as configured on RamTrucks.com:
2020 Ram Big Horn QC 4X2
Granite Crystal Metallic
5.7L Hemi (NO eTorque)
Anti-Spin Differential
3.92 Axle Ratio
Level 2 Package
Night Edition
Bed Utility Group
Premium Lighting Group
Black Side Steps
Rear Wheelhouse Liners
Uconnect w/NAV...
I'm waiting for prices to be slashed as well. All the local dealers are still open. Problem is, no one within a 500-mile radius has exactly what I want in stock.
