Where is the connection for the security Gateway? Did you locate it?

Yes. Easy once I knew where it was. It is basically behind the parking brake switch. You access it from below. Here are a few pix to help. The one is from the ground around where your left foot would be looking straight up. It is towards the front, near the brake switch...not the back. If you really can't find it, you can open the brake switch and pedal cover (not the switch the larger cover) just a little to look thru it to see it. You will still access it from below.

this is a reply from ther tecs …

That is a feature we can retain if you vehicle already has it but we cannot add. This kit will however enable the puddle lights, turn signals, and auto-dim driver's side mirror

So if you have tow mirrors … NO HEAT

?

My tow mirrors are heated.

For some reason, Bighorn doesn't get heated mirrors. I guess it's a trim level difference. They should point out these things, I don't care about leather seats, but heated mirrors help a lot in any freezing climate.

It is clearly stated in the feature guide that tradesman, bighorn/lonestar, and Rebel tow mirrors are non heated. See various threads with posts stating and showing this.

Stupidest thing ever how they did this tow mirror option, but i am really believing Ram planned to end the option of tow mirrors on 1500

The chrome tow mirrors are heated on higher trims. All black ones aren't. Why? I have no idea.
For what it is worth...the black ones that I just put on my truck are heated, blind spot, puddle lights, retract and drivers dim. They come in all flavors. Way too complex, they should all have all the features in my opinion. Yes they are smaller and also don't stick out so far...that is what I personally like about them. Yes I tow a horse trailer also...still like them better than the tow mirrors. But some people swear by the tow mirrors...I just swear at them.

We are all tracking this. I meant all black TOW MIRRORS are unheated, not all black mirrors. I fully realize had I not gotten tow mirrors, I'd have your mirrors (as I want). I will live. First world problems, I am very aware.

Thanks, last question, does everything need to be powered up to put these mirrors on? BAttery connected?
Instructions from info are pretty vague.

Look at my pictures and instructions that i posted above. You will remove the negative of the battery during the whole install. Once everything is installed, reconnect the negative. Connect the bypass. Start truck...let run for 30 sec. Then insert Genie and wait until it turns green (for me about 15-20 sec) then you can remove Genie. You can test the mirrors and see if they work...they should. I turned truck off and removed bypass and put cables back. Also you may have your auto-window not work...hold down button for 10 sec and the 'auto' part should work again.

Haha...welcome. There are so many variations of the mirrors...it is stupid. I could not stand mine either. May need to talk to a dealer or Mopar dealer to determine which options you do need/want and make sure you have proper mirror controllers, programming, etc. for your truck. Then again I'm not the expert, but after installing mine have learned that they all seem to need to match. BTW...it is worth changing them. I HATED my tow mirrors and now VERY happy with regular mirrors. Just towed my horses yesterday with regular mirrors and was just fine.

Went to put mine in yesterday. Guess what..They sent me two left hand mirrors! Found this out after putting all the parts in too. Im beyond pissed after waiting for over 1.5 months. To top it off its making my radio act wacky as I have to drive it less one door panel. I have been working on cars for years. I have never had a door panel so hard to remove. Very strong clips. geeze.

So sorry to hear about this... I'm fuming over the close to two month wait myself with no parts but the two modules, but I can't even image how pissed you are with a boner of that magnitude.

Good lord! That is crazy. I had to return my mirrors also due to no blind spot. I ended up calling (talked to Simone) multiple times and had to continually be on top of them to get it done. I also had to tell them when parts are in, etc. I called another dealer to check if the parts were in the national warehouse and then tell Info that it was in stock. Not the way it should be. You could probably just order all the parts and get it done. Basically Info just purchased the parts. This is nothing that they do unique. Buy mirrors, controllers, door switch, Genie & bypass. Now that I have done it, that is all it is. Since all they are doing is ordering items, you would think they would focus and get that right. Seriously...there is nothing unique to what they do. I got prices from my Mopar dealer and he would ship right away. There was a delay for a bit for one of the door controllers but think that might be over. Sorry to hear...good luck. I can send you my part numbers if you like.

Isn't the genie and bypass specific to them? Or are these generically available somewhere?

I've honestly lost track of how many times I've called, emailed, chatted, mind melded, etc. with them over the order. The last update I received at the end of last week was the mirrors are supposed to ship this week. They did end up issuing a small credit back to my account for all the delays, which was appreciated, but all I'd like at this point is for the mirrors to ship. Thanks for the offer on the part numbers and I'll let you know if I need them shortly.

Good question...thought they bought them from OBD Genie. I have not called them to see if you can purchase it directly from them or not. Here is a link to their website. Do need the bypass and genie. Curious if they do sell directly or not. If not, then I was wrong.
