I just installed the 12" UConnect 5 system coming from a 8.4 UConnect 4 Non-Nav, and there are a couple of issues I have been having with the Rear Backup Camera.

  • Whenever the truck goes to sleep and restarts, the "ParkView Backup Camera Active Guidelines" option de-selects - on every restart
  • I do not have the Zoom button for the "Hitch Camera" when I'm in reverse
I tried to factory reset the radio, and I even went to AlfaOBD to find that the settings are correct in the BCM, but the radio seems to ignore the setting completely. The BCM is set to Model Year 2022 to enable the 12" UConnect, but as a troubleshooting step (I remembered that the MFG date of the module I got for the UC5 Module is 2024) I set it to 2024, with no change. If it makes any difference, when I auto-connect with AlfaOBD, it selects "DT MY2019 PowerNet Var.3".

This really wouldn't be that big of a problem if I wouldn't depend on the lines to back in literally anywhere, but that's why I'm asking.

Anyone have any ideas/troubleshooting steps I could try?

I had/have both of these issues. Making sure the vehicle year in the BCM was appropriately changed back to the year of manufacture (2019 for me) solved my backup guidelines issue. I just realized yesterday after reading another forum that I no longer have the “hitch camera” and haven’t figured that one out yet. Hope this helps.

My understanding is you only need to update the BCM model year if you have surround view camera. I honesty don’t know all that much about it and can’t take credit for the fix, I just know that it worked for me with zero issues and screen works exactly as it should. Give it a try. Worst case change it back if it causes you any issues.

Sorry for not replying, changing my model year back to 2019 fixed the issue of the lines going away, but the no zoom problem still exists.

Glad it helped with the guideline. I haven’t figured out the zoom issue yet either. I’ll keep you posted if I come up with something. 🤙🏼

I just tried it... no luck.

I did notice in alfa, my camera was set to NO(analog) so I changed it to digital... doesn't seem to have done anything though.

Reporting back. Do not change it to Digital. That disabled the camera...
I updated the firmware, still cannot get zoom back.

Installed a 12 screen on a 21 laramie that had the 8.4 with nav and the zoom feature remained. WTH

It’s something in the radio & connectivity settings in alfaobd.
Make a backup file, and paste what line item 620148 says here.
I don’t get nowhere near 620148 line items.
Can you tell me hoe to take the backup you need to see?

This is what your backup file looks like. Each line begins with a “62”. I need to know what the line that begins with “620148” says.

OH - I'm using PC and my backup comes out different.. Let me try with a mobile.
This is different than making a log of your settings.
Create backup file is in the same list as car configuration change, a couple line below it.
