Just saw this passed along on the TRX forum.

It's That time Gents, Joe & Mike with Zautomotive have announced the Tazer will have updated Firmware to work with the 2022 & 2023 Ram TRX Uconnect 5 system. There will be a Podcast
release from SEMA mid week.. Check it out..!!
****IN ADDITION**** There has been teasers out there of an additional features being added to the Tazer DT & some of you already know.!! For those that don't the Tazer Will no include an Anti-Theft function. The vehicle will require a Pin to be started. This new function will have a similarity to ILA. If the thief manages to bypass the pin code and is able to get the truck started it will go into a Restricted mode where the truck can not be driven over 15 MPH, The Alarm
will sound & The Light Show will go off. For those worried about theft this device now has you covered in addition to changing DRL Color, Auto Folding Mirrors, Fogs With High Beams & Keeping those Market lights Lit all the time.. Well plus all the other cool features the device is
known to change.. The list goes for days. Hammerbuilt Performance has an Extremely Large shipment in route.. To help our customers that have been anxious for this device to work
with the 2022 & 2023 Uconnect 5 system.
When can we update?

The new version just showed up on the programming utility (18.1.7), but it's not working quite yet.

Yes, that's the link to manually download the update. The new firmware just popped up there too, but that doesn't work (yet) either.
Cool. Just saw it was added. Wasn’t there a few minutes ago.👍🏻

“VAC” display Vacuum/Boost Gauge --- anyone know if this works and where it shows up?

Also, there are a few mentions of adding an A/V input and cycling to it through the camera inputs. anyone know if it is possible to add an AV input when you have the factory surround cameras? would be awesome to be able to add a HDMI input and toggle it on like you can the surround cameras.

The security feature seems to be a decent (and free) upgrade to the Tazer. There are work-arounds that could defeat it though. If a thief has read the manual, and has 10 extra minutes to spare, the PIN can be disabled (it also requires that the hazards be on during that time). Or a thief can simply unplug the Tazer. That’s why I think it is practically required that a “shield” be installed to slow down the removal of the Tazer. There’s a company already selling this shield (www.brawlerfab.com). I’ve ordered one sight-unseen and will provide feedback on it when I receive/install it.

Good question. Are all the Uconnect 5 issues resolved?

Mine seems to glitch on the screen when cycling thru the Tazer options. Words get mixed with the audio selection. Also some are skipped by yet later show up. Seems like the menus could be much cleaner and user friendly.

Mine is also still getting muddied up by the radio information (even with the radio off).

Supposedly all the Uconnect5 issues are resolved, but I can’t confirm (as I’m only using live features, not vehicle changes).

ParkCam works now (it’s a live feature), although it hung up and forced me to reboot Uconnect. I’ll give it another try next time I drive.

Just so people don’t get a false sense of security, a shield for the tazer won’t do anything. Since the potential thief has to go for the canbus block behind the headlight switch to plug their device in, they just need to unplug the security gateway plug from that block, which will effectively unplug the tazer. It’s easy to pick out the gateway canbus connector on that block because it’s the only one that doesn’t have a yellow wire as one of its two wires.
So, once it’s commonly known that tazer has this feature, they’ll just assume that’s what they’re dealing with on every truck, and just snip those two wires first before they plug in their device.

Whoa. Just to make sure I understand this correctly…

When you install the Tazer, you unplug the SGW and plug in the Tazer as shown below. I assume this shield will cover the area. Are you saying that there’s a simple set of wires that can be snipped to disable all of that? If so, that would certainly make for a quick defeat.

I’ve got the Ravelco installed already, so this was just icing on the cake. Or not.

Just to confirm: have you updated yet, or are you talking about the previous firmware? And is your radio turned off when you use the menu?
