Lifetime Warranty?

Can this plan be purchased in canada?

Hello Predfan,

The Lifetime plans were never offered in Canada. I believe they offer all the other plans... For specifics please call MVP Canada 800-465-2001.

Hello

I just recently ordered a 2019 ram 1500 limited on 11/23. Is there anyway I can get the VIN number and purchase a lifetime warranty or is there nothing I can do.

Generally it needs to be built and shipped to process the warranty purchase. But once you get the VIN if it’s in time you can try but I am going to say unfortuantely probably to late.

This is a terrible move by FCA.

For consumers, probably. For FCA, I imagine it's the right move for a number of reasons:

1. People are keeping cars longer due to cost, and a lifetime warranty is another reason for them not to turn them over and buy new ones, hence keeping revenue down for FCA
2. The costs incurred by the warranty repairs may be more than then the costs of the warranty (losing money long-term)
3. Dealers - customers get cars fixed under warranty, do they lose out on regular repair rates and parts revenue?

I'm sure their actuaries have run the numbers and that's why you're seeing this ending. I could also say it indicates poor long-term reliability, but that's really tough to say since there is more to the equation than just cost of repairs over time.

I was planning on ordering a Ram in the next 6 weeks, in large part due to the lifetime warranty. I am going to reconsider that, now. I'm not sure how many people factor that into their decisions, but there is certainly the potential for lost sales.

Has the rumor of lifetime going away in december actually been confirmed?

Yes, it's confirmed. From Clay Robbins today " Lifetime is going away after tomorrow. "

The expiring Lifetime Warranty is why we decided not to wait/order and began searching dealer stock. We found one that meets our requirements about 2 hours from our house.

Had the Lifetime Warranty not been going away, we would have waited a few months to order.

Not sure I would have purchased without the lifetime warranty.

I think, if it returns, the pricing will be different. Charging the same for a fully loaded Limited and a Tradesman does not seem right. I would think we might see it return with its price a function of MSRP.

The ending of the lifetime warranty and 72 month 0% interest pushed me to purchase off the lot. I had a truck ordered, but found a truck that matched what I wanted in an adjacent state. Cancelled the ordered truck and can't wait to pick up my truck Saturday. It will be my first brand new car and first truck, so very excited.

Hello Hlpyhlperton & KJRam,

To piggy back off what KJRam stated.. If your VIN number has been issued by Friday then your selling dealer will be able to place a contract on file.. But only if the vin has been issued.

Clay is filing my Lifetime warranty tomorrow and they're calling me next week to have me pay for it for whatever reason. Having them go away made me do it now rather than dither a while and wait to decide between 7 year and lifetime.

@RamCares So I ordered on 11/26. I received a VIN yesterday. I called to order lifetime maxcare today and was told its not possible. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "place a contract on file" and what that does for me? Does that mean I need to order warranty from selling dealer?

Your VIN won't be in the database until your build sheet or window sticker is available. Until this happens, Clay and others can't process the warranty. Hopefully they are doing a workaround for those that have a truck on order.

Wish you the best of luck on your "first". Great pick, "Motortrend truck of the year"

Well, that blows.
My truck in on order. Earlier this week I called Ziegler regarding the Lifetime warranty. I explained that I recently ordered the vehicle and could they provide the warranty. I was told several times sure, not a problem. So I went ahead and ordered on their website.
This morning I get notice of refund being processed....they can't sell a warranty.

According to this post by RamCare, it's possible with your dealer.

Not sure how since your VIN isn't in the database yet to purchase the warranty. Also, calling Mopar Vehicle Protection, they say you can't buy the warranty before taking delivery of the truck.

I'll give it a try when my dealership opens this morning. Long shot but it can't hurt, right.

If you figure this out please let me know. I’m in same situation. I asked my dealer about placing contract on file. He didn’t know what I was talking about.

Just got this email? I wonder why they are doing this

Because the reliability isn’t there across the FCA brands and they must be losing money on the lifetime plans! I bet they add another plan but with a limited time frame to make up for the removal of the lifetime plans.
