Lifetime Warranty?

My 2004 Z71 Silverado was stolen 3 weeks ago. It hasn’t been recovered and I ordered my custom 1500 yesterday.

I planned on keeping that Silverado for a long, long time, it was great.

Now that I’m buying a new vehicle with all sorts of tech upgrades, air suspension, etc I was looking at warranty options. I don’t want to have to deal with a dead $1000 head unit 10 years from now or the air suspension going apeshit years down the road.

How do the lifetime warranties work? I google it and I don’t seem to see any official Mopar site where I can get details.

Are these actually mopar warranties or just some 3rd party offering?

Are they a nightmare to actually use or are they pretty straight-forward when you have an issue?

Anything else worth sharing?

Info at chryslerwarrantys.com but don't buy it there.

Contact [email protected]. he owns a Ram dealership in Kansas. Completely legit Mopar warranty. I paid $2,745 for 100 deductible plan. The 200 deductible plan is 2,450.

It doesn't cover etorque components based on the fact hybrid components are excluded. But I could be wrong.

I've heard it is really straightforward since it is a Mopar plan and any dealer can see it attached to your vin.

Fairly large thread on warranties already, check it out, lots of good info.
- Nothing against Clay but there are multiple places you can get the Chrysler warranty discounted, links are in the thread. I used Seigler with the “payinfull” discount code
- Prices just went up 1 Oct so expect them to be $250-$300 more than other folks recently paid
- eTorque is covered

Also important to note you cannot transfer the lifetime warranty to anyone else like a family member or used buyer, but you can transfer the shorter term ones (eg 7 yr). I have my wife on the policy with me.

eTorque is covered
This is a fair concern regarding eTorque by the way, considering the wording of the contract... I just chatted with my warranty seller (Bob at Zeigler) and his service folks specifically loaded eTorque into a system query and the Mopar system showed it as covered under electrical. The contracts do not list all the thousands of parts. Believe it or not (and I was skeptical reading the contract) but it is currently listed as covered in the service systems.

By the way Bob is very cool, and responsive.

Thanks for the confirmation on Etorque!

Definitely better to check around and I don’t have Ziegler contact so thanks for this. I talked to a different local dealer who said they don’t even try to sell the Mopar extended warranties because they don’t make money on them lol.

@YoAdrian, I don't know if this is new, but Ziegler has a page on their website that specifically states the eTorque system components are not covered. Since those components are already covered by the factory for 8/80, maybe it's not a big deal. Otherwise, it might be worth another call to Bob.

Ugh. Looks like Zeigler told me false information in response to my specific question about eTorque coverage. At least they’re being honest with future customers now? Not happy, wonder if they’ll offer a refund. Thanks SpeedyV for the update... bad news though.

You get 60 days on a full refund, then prorated based on time. Else you have a record of your question and their answer which you can use to compare to the website posting?

I was thinking of buying the V6 etorgue and purchasing the lifetime warranty (went with regular V8). When reviewing the lifetime warranties there appeared to be a change in the wording on what was covered. I believe the initial was written for the hybrid Pacifica. MAYBE those who purchased the lifetime warranty early on could argue what is covered and not. Wish those with the etorgue the best of luck. The system is a great idea and appears to me will be adopted in more vehicles. I own my vehicles long term (94 Ford Explorer, 2001 Dodge 1500) and have 3 sons to pass them on to, which deterred me from adopting new technology.

Adding to two threads, as this may be new information: Ziegler now has a page on their website that specifically states the eTorque system components are not covered by the Lifetime Maximum Care warranty.

That said, these components are now covered for 8 years / 80,000 miles under the factory warranty (see page 17 of the "2019 Ram All-New 1500 Warranty Information" guide). In an earlier version of this warranty document, the "Belt Driven Hybrid Starter Generator Assembly" and "Power Pack Unit - 48 Volts" were not listed.

Perhaps the EPA required FCA to cover these parts under the extended Federal Emissions Warranty to approve the eTorque fuel economy ratings. This may also explain the price bump in the eTorque system a few months back!

So it appears that the eTorque components are covered for 8/80, and are not covered (per Ziegler) under the Lifetime Maximum Care plans.

Purchased a lifetime with $200 deductible from Clay today for $2580. The $100 would have been $2950.

I talked to the sales manager at the dealership today and she looked and couldn't find any communication confirming that the lifetime warranties are going away. I should think we'd have heard something by now if it was supposed to be announced yesterday or today.

Hello YoAdrian,

Where you able to get your service contract concerns addressed by Zeigler? Like one of the users stated you will receive a full refund within 60 days..

Talked to Zeigler Today. No more policies after this Friday.

Hello All,

I just wanted to provide a little clarity on the Lifetime conversation. As MSchnLoneStar19 stated Friday November 30th,2018 will be the last day that a Lifetime Service Contract can be purchased. The next best option would be the 5,6 or 7 year unlimited which is available in Powertrain Care Plus, Added Care Plus & MaxCare all with $100 or $200 deductibles.

If you have any additional question please feel free to ask..
