Loud Rumbling/Revving Noise

I have a 2019 bighorn, with the e torque motor and this happend to me the other day. I have 1000 miles on it, and had a full crew of 4 in the truck. It made the noise on deceleration and acceleration , almost was like a hole in exhaust or driveline problem. Has not done it since, I am scheduled to take to dealer in a week, but the problem is gone. Everyone in the truck heard it, as it was quite annoying. Glad to hear I’m not the only one and hopefully they will figure out a fix

I have a 2019 Bighorn hemi w/o etorque and have had a similar issue for the last few thousand miles. I now have 5800 miles on the truck and it has been to the dealer twice for a week at a time. They have been unable to duplicate the issue because it is intermittent. It sounds like a loud exhaust drone between 1500 and 1800rpms, but it goes away after i get above 2000 rpms. I tried to record the noise but I was too high of a pitch to capture on my phone. I am not sure what’s causing it or what to do about it. Sometimes the truck drives perfect and others it makes the noise. Let me know if your dealer is able to correct the issue.

I had the same issue with the "booming" sound that came on all of a sudden. I tried to figure out if i had done anything thinking it was exhaust related but I did install new 6x9 speakers in the rear doors. I just removed those and put the stock ones back in and the sound is completely gone. It must be something with the noise cancellation system. Just fyi in case someone else put new speakers in as that could be the culprit.

New to the forum, I have a 2019 Ram that's a week old with 100 miles. Last night I turned the car on and as I put it into drive, there was a terrible loud, low pitched rumbling noise in the truck. I'm talking ear-piercingly loud. At first I thought it was engine related but as I tried to diagnose it sounded like it was coming from the car speakers. Is this an active noise cancellation malfunction? It was almost like it was taking engine noise and amplifying it throughout the entire truck. Turned it on this morning and had no issues. I called the dealer and they suggested I record or call them the next time I hear it.

Anyone heard of this before? It was so loud I literally had ringing in my ears last night and this morning.

I experienced this at first with passengers in the back, especially noticeable when in Eco mode. Then it became persistent; clearly an ANC (Automatic Noise Cancelling) system problem in my case with the noise synchronized with rpms and at a volume that indicated it was coming from speakers not mechanical parts.

I have disconnected ANC until I can take it in for servicing. I may wait until the corporate knowledge on the system increases too... seems like it needs calibration but doubtful there will be a procedure or capability currently. Following this post to see what we learn from service. Are amp replacements fixing the problems?

My drone like sound went away when I turned off eco by using the limiter switch. Very quiet in the cab as long as I turn it off when I start driving.

Has anyone tried disconnecting the battery for 15 min to "reset" ANC?

My drone like sound went away when I turned off eco by using the limiter switch. Very quiet in the cab as long as I turn it off when I start driving.

I’ve tried that too but it didn’t make a difference for me.

My dealer said they tested the ANC and that is not what is causing my problem? I am not sure what they tested since they couldn’t reproduce the problem. I am also feeling a back and forth reviving when holding at 15-1800 rpms. It feels very choppy and like there is something wrong with the electronic throttle response or something. It seems to be linked to the drone noise that happens intermittently. My 2014 ram had the same setup with the hemi and 8 speed and drove much more smooth. I am having some buyers remorse for trading my 14 in on the 19.

Also, anyone getting horrible gas mileage on the 5.7? 11.9 suburban (city) driving 30-45 mph with stop signs. 19 Highway. Haven't seen over 20 MPG in wide open traffic on the highway yet.

I haven’t had the humming. It isn’t feedback from another device you have, like a phone, is it? I have an average of 18.1 mpg on mine, just over 1080 miles so far on it.

Not an aux or external device. I didnt have my phone on me first time I heard it. Shut the radio off to listen first time I heard it because my first inclination was an engine/exhaust issue. It's in the cab. Truck has 500 miles on it. Maybe needs to be broken in a bit for MPG, but no way it should be sucking that much gas. In IL and haven't run the A/C since purchased.

I have the exact same issue. I live and work near the dealership i purchased from and the next time it happens, I am bringing in without shutting it off and post whatever answers/fixes I receive.

I just got this exact symptom as soon as i left the dealership! I was so mad! It test drove beautifully , then spent a few hours going back and forth on price & paperwork, so I needed to get home , not sure it’s linked but the only thing I did was connect my phone to the Bluetooth.... I owe the dealer a call tomorrow if it persists

I've got 2000 miles on my 2019 truck and its ok except for the two different noises. Between 70 and 75 miles an hour there is a random drum beating noise that sounds like something loose and banging against the truck body. I can turn up the radio and live with that for a few days, but tonight the hum showed up in my truck for the second time. It was there two weeks ago when I started down a dirt road. Tonight, back on dirt it started again. I tried to measure it with my piano tuner and it is a pure noise at about 950 or 1000 HZ and is REALLY obnoxious. It comes and goes about every ten seconds. I have to drive 300 miles home tomorrow and I hope it goes away.

I doubt it's really at 1000 hz. That's a higher pitch like the high whine of a vacuum cleaner or shop vac. Tuners aren't particularly accurate when the source is noise. An "RTA" (Real Time Analyzer) app will grphically show the frequencies envolved. There are many free RTA apps available. It would interesting to see an RTA reading.

Definitely sounds like the Active Noise Reduction is acting up. Mine made a funny noise when my brakes squeeled while backing up. Hasn't done it since.

The dealer was finally able to replicate the noise and determined it was the ANC after all. They found a TSB for an update to the ANC software as well as a transmission update. I have driven about 2000 miles since the update and the truck drives amazing with no more issues. Mine sounded like an exhaust noise/drone and not like the backfeeding speakers that some were complaining about. I think Ram is having a lot of issues with the noise cancellation, but seems to be an easy fix if the dealer is educated on the problem.
