Ok let me back up a question, what does the SGW do? LolNot sure I understand your question. You either have the SGW plugged in OR the Tazer. You can’t have both.

Yeah I’ll probably just wait until my warranty runs outAfter reading all of this I have determined that I do not want my fog lights to stay on with the high beams because I am not willing to risk all of this bullsh!t.
It was created to prevent hackers from gaining access to the vehicle since hackers proved to FCA their vehicles can be hacked through an internet connection. It goes between the OBD and the vehicles communication bus.Ok let me back up a question, what does the SGW do? Lol
Exactly. I really wanted to add the global window up/down with the key fob but apparently it wont allow me to do that so I'm not even gonna take the chance with the fog light thing. Having the warranty on my new $55k truck is more important than any of thatYeah I’ll probably just wait until my warranty runs out
Only thing is the Tazer doesn't do anything to the PCM. The SGW isn't the encryption for the PCM, which is why you have to either get an unlocked PCM, or send yours in to be unlocked if you want to do any actual tuning of the PCM.IMO, the dealer may or may not know whats going on with the trans but the OP gave them an easy out by tampering with the PCM using a Tazer and SGW. It doesn't matter if his actions or the Tazers actions caused the trans to fail, you tampering with the PCM is an automatics catch all foul. I'm not sure why this is difficult to understand but its been this way for a while now and the reason the PCM is encrypted in the 1st place.
"The door was locked and deadbolted (the PCM encryption) but you kicked it in anyway and just looked around because now the door was open and you were there? Yes your honor but I didn't steal anything. Boy, that's still burglary"
The Tazer does give you global up/downExactly. I really wanted to add the global window up/down with the key fob but apparently it wont allow me to do that so I'm not even gonna take the chance with the fog light thing. Having the warranty on my new $55k truck is more important than any of that
Based upon my experience with AlfaOBD I was able to see error codes simply because I replaced my halogen headlights and tail lights with LED. All were working fine. Likewise, I could see an error indicating my Start/Stop which was malfunctioning (however it was working fine) which I attributed to the Autostop Eliminator that was plugged into my SGW. The system is like some kind of crime scene recorder…my finger prints were in everything I had touched on my truck.I feel like noone is answering the real question here. Does the vehicle latch a code that says the SGW has been bypassed? If that's the case then it doesn't matter if you leave the tazer installed or not. If they ever look for that flag then it's an automatic dismissal as they can claim they don't know what may have been done to the systems. Until someone with a scan tool, potentially alfa obd, and a tazer can actually answer that question then all of this back and forth is pointless.
The tazer doesn't leave a code that I am aware of, or based on answers from Z Automotive. The only reason you to marry the tazer is because people were buying a tazer and then selling the service to make the changes.I feel like noone is answering the real question here. I was asking about a more general use case, tazer or not. If you have ever bypassed the SGW for any reason/length of time...does the truck record it and can the dealer see that even when that bypass is removed? The tazer doesn't leave a code that I am aware of, or based on answers from Z Automotive. I've had a tazer connected to my previous Jeeps and no issues with it being connected to the mothershipI was asking about a more general use case, tazer or not. Because...if that's the case anyone that's ever used AlfaODB + a bypass to change a BCM setting is potentially screwed.
Ok thanks. So as long as you have the tazer installed you are hackable. It was created to prevent hackers from gaining access to the vehicle since hackers proved to FCA their vehicles can be hacked through an internet connection. It goes between the OBD and the vehicles communication bus.
The odds of getting hacked are so slim, I wouldn't even worry about it. Those guys that controlled the Cherokee were plugged into the vehicle and the last I heard, they still need a physical connection. So unless you let someone plug something into your OBD2 port with the SGW disconnected, I'm pretty confident to say you have nothing to really worry about.Ok thanks. So as long as you have the tazer installed you are hackable.
If you take it out and plug the SGW back in, are you safe from hacks? Or does something have to be reset?

I already added the bed lights and activated them in the BCM, may as well do passive entry now that I've crossed that line .I have a feeling that's what the real issue is here then. Which unfortunately for the OP and anyone else involved could mean it's an automatic void of warranty. It wouldn't be hard for them to fight that in court I would think since it's a secure system that's been bypassed.
I don't work in the automotive industry but I still do industrial programming. It's not hard to conceive of a way to monitor for these kind of things imo.
This thread has actually made me second guess my decision to add passive entry. May wait until I'm out of warranty if I do it at all. Ironically my wife's Pacifica is almost out of warranty and I found this thread because I was trying to remember the SGW bypass everyone used. I'm going to turn ESS off in her van at 60k.
Certainly not trying to knock anyone for doing it. I was going to do it without any hesitation. I already have the wiring harness for the passive entry lol. This thread has just persuaded me to wait a while. I also plan on keeping the truck for a long time but I'd also hate to be out thousands of dollars in warranty because I wanted fancier door handles lol.I already added the bed lights and activated them in the BCM, may as well do passive entry now that I've crossed that line .
From what a couple other people have said, it doesn't automatically flag so we are probably OK.
Well, I'm about to find out definitively. Gonna go in to get the rear camera recall done, they'll have to connect the truck to the FCA (or Stellantis...whatever) mothership.Certainly not trying to knock anyone for doing it. My personal opinion on this is that it's BS. It sucks for OP and I wish there was a way to help him get that transmission fixed. I wish we had some dealership techs on the forum who may be able to shed more light on the situation.
To do that they won’t uncover anything.Well, I'm about to find out definitively. Gonna go in to get the rear camera recall done, they'll have to connect the truck to the FCA (or Stellantis...whatever) mothership.
