So I went to take a look at the filter, Figured that after, what over half a year of driving? I wanted to see what my filter looked like.
My logic: It's probably easier to gently clean a less dirty filter every so so, vs opening it years from now and going H.A.M. on a filthy filter!

I opened it up, took off the the bolts and found, the paper material still looks pretty darn white! Very clean still.
HOWEVER, I did notice some debris in there. It almost looked like pepper seed sized? Just small enough to get inside of the grid.

An uncle of mine many years ago kept having power loss with a vehicle, that couldn't be explained. None of the dealerships or mechanics he brought it to could figure it out. Skipping a long story? A mouse made a nest in the airbox, when he got on the gas sometimes all those seeds and leaves would fly up and stick to the filter, choking off air to the engine. :oops:

I shook the debris out the filter, hit it with compressed air cans from the inside, and it looks spotless.

I really hope it's what they use on the 22 GT package.
I would want one of these from the GT kit.

Just an update on the replacement air filter for this kit. I called my dealer parts guy today about filter number 68414387AA and it’s still “backordered”. He said it still says “Call Chrysler” which is the same as before. He was told they were/are looking for a new supplier for these filters. He will call me with availability/price when he hears something.

Same reason I gave earlier. No waiting for the filter to dry. You remove the original filter (lets call it filter A), install the spare (lets call it filter B). Wash/clean filter A. Still drive the truck with filter B, no need to wait for dry time on filter A.

Then, thousands of miles later when filter B needs washing, you install filter A. Wash filter B, let it dry. Still drive the truck with filter A installed, no need to wait for dry time on filter B.

Repeat.

Not a need, as I said before as well, just a convenience. :cool:

Yes - and there's a very real possibility of accidentally "inhaling" something (with some bad luck following the wrong vehicle down the highway) that would ruin said filter. So a replacement filter should be made available.

The pollen in my area has finally abated, so I washed the filter and did some repair to the gasket around the back of the Ram Airflow box.

Dirty Filter: I blew off the bugs before I washed it:

You remove the filter with a 10 mm

Had to repair the gasket at the rear of the filter housing. Used 3M Gasket Adhesive to do the repair.
Be careful getting this stuff on your skin it will take the skin and hair off.
Guess you could use it for a bikini wax. :p

I got my Ram air installed and finally made a mounting plate for my air compressor and tank for my air horns was pretty easy I had a leftover aluminum battery tray from my g m c I mounted that To the plastic base for the old air cleaner.

That was a great use of that space. (y)

For the gasket I replaced with a soft black door edge protector.
Works great, No issues. This is rhesecond truck I’ve utilize on.

Can anyone verify their system lines up like so? Appears to be an unsightly gap, yet everything lines up and clicks into place with no more play. Perhaps they updated this kit?

No, your's isn't set properly. If you look at the center section, it needs to be lifted up a bit and it will snap into place.
