How has your ceramic coating held up

Is their Xpel gold plated??? $6-$9K??? You should be able to get the hood and entire front of the truck done for $1500...$2000 tops!!!
this is what i said. im doing the full truck but i told them i rather do it my self then pay 9k

You never made mention in your other post the price was for the entire truck! You really want to do the entire truck??? That's a bit extreme. No wonder they want all that money. It is MUCH harder than it looks to install and have it look good.

So I’ve done this a few times...with both the pro stuff and Amazon junk (just to see the difference). This time I tried Avalon King and I thinks it’s the best amateur ceramic out there. Extremely easy to apply and cover, flashes well, and removal was good. Did my new truck today in about 8 hours which involved a wash, clay bar, polish, alcohol wipe and ceramic application. 941F0CF6-60FF-4BD8-A7E2-8FE27FD569F9.jpeg

You never made mention in your other post the price was for the entire truck! You really want to do the entire truck??? That's a bit extreme. No wonder they want all that money. It is MUCH harder than it looks to install and have it look good.
yes im more focused on the front and doors and bed the roof idc much could just leave that ceramic coated

I coated my new truck in Sept of 2019 with CarPro Cquartz and Gliss and so far its still doing great. I did it myself and saved the $1200 and spent maybe $120 on the kit. I already had a buffer and various polish and Iron X clay bar etc. Its a consumer grade product not a pro one but after 17 months its doing great. I dont drive it daily and it stays in a garage so I expect it will go 3 years or more based on the performance so far.

I'm a huge Cquartz fan. Used it for the last couple of years on several vehicles and it works really well. I have a new truck on order and am considering trying the Avalon King, the reviews say it is even easier, but I am concerned about longevity. Would like to hear some testimonials in harsh environments over time.

I was also (and still am) concerned about longevity...but compared to the other coatings I have used in the past (Wolfgang and cheap Amazon C9), this was sooo easy. It was easier to see flash and very forgiving. Honestly, I could reapply annually and be happy based on the end result.

Thanks for your post I think I will try it as a maintenance coat every 3-4 months over Cquartz. My environment is far beyond the average for harshness. I live in northeastern NV and call on the mining industry. In the winter and spring, our trucks get washed daily, and not the two-buck save the finish kind of a wash. Sometimes it's the "zero degrees out I have so much mud on the wheels and suspension I have to knock that off before I go down the highway and the heated pressure washer at the car wash is freezing to the sides of the truck instantly as I try to blow off the crud kind of a wash". Or it's the desert in summer 0% humidity and hot and your fighting water spots. All of the mine roads are dirt and some are spayed with mag chloride, a soap/mineral solution that makes road salt look like child's play. I have been looking for something a little more resilient than any of the spray bottle Maintenace toppings, but easier to apply than Cquartz. Cquartz has to go on level or you will be buffing it off. I have a truck ordered and getting PPF on the full front, hood and fenders, and also the rocker panels, and will top with this combination and see how it works out. Thanks again, great write-up.

For that type of environment, I would go full truck PPF wrap!

lol correct i got quoted 9 k

im thinking of just doing the front rear bed adding some door rockets linex then. and doing above the rockers with ppf and leave the top of truck ceramic coated. 🤣 maybe some some money that way

Exactly...a flashlight or black light isn't necessary. My friends shop does VERY high-end cars...Lambos, Porsches, MB, Ferrari's, etc. He uses Xpel for ceramic. I watched them coat a $200K Porsche the last time I was there getting my PPF done on my RAM. After the paint correction prep, it took them less than 45 minutes to do the entire car. No lights at all. The guy doing it I think got paid $15/hour, if that. I asked Alex what he charged to do the PC and Ceramic on the Porsche...he told me that it was $2500. Anyone can do this...you just need to have some common sense and follow the instructions.

...and time!

For that type of environment, I would go full truck PPF wrap!
Believe me, I considered it. Have to balance cost with returns. It's gonna be a work truck, but still my baby. 2018 was my hardest year on the other ecodiesel I had, went through 4 windshields that year, 2 of them within a week of each other.

Sounds a bit high to me at $1800 but some things out west are more than other areas of the country. If you are going that far, you may want to see if they'll throw in the A-pillars for free or at least do the headlights. Llumar is very good stuff too, but I am an Xpel guy and that's all I've used for over 10+ years on all my vehicles.
