View attachment 83051 I think I need a 6’4” bed on my next truck.
Everyone does. The short beds are just silly. I mean, 6-1/2 ft USED TO BE the short bed! 8 ft was standard. I don't get it. And folks get pissed when you ask them about it. Room enough for 2 bags of mulch and a tray of flowers.

I don't have the BUG on mine so I added some temporary tie downs until I order the Mopar rail kit. I added rivet bolts to the factory holes and then used 1000lb V ring tie downs and auto fender washer bolts. They work for now.

Here's a question I need answered. If you tie DOWN something, how is it useful for the BUG to have the hitches on the rail almost at the top of the bed? How can you tie down anything that way? Maybe they're useful when your load is taller than the bed?

But they sell like crazy!!
99% of the time I wouldn’t get any benefits of the 6’ bed over the 5’ bed, don’t mind dealing with the extra overflow with straps and a flag that other 1%

There’s also tie downs low in the bed at each corner for that

I haul a motorcycle a few times each year, so I didn't want my rear tire on the tailgate.

For what it's worth, I've hauled motorcycles and ATV's thousands of miles sitting on tailgates. My dad's 2000 F-150 went 10 years with an ATV in the back of it at least 10 times a year for hundreds of miles. I know, I know, anecdotal response. But still, they're made to handle it.

I'd need a short bed and a quad cab to even think about getting this truck in my garage. My Dakota just barely fits. Not happy that The Abyss is going to sit outside all of its life. So there's a disadvantage to the length.

If I did have something like that I’d probably get the right box. But I mostly carry kayaks, and doesn’t matter what box I get, those 12-14 foot boats are going to stick out. I have a rack to mount them above cab/bed when going on longer drives but if it’s a local thing, flag it in the bed is good enough.
Drywall and a few trips of fence boards were the only times j needed to transport stuff longer than the box, and all quick local drives.

Nah - just a hitch extender, but a 6'4" can make it easier at times.

Not recommending any particular extender just an example. I believe I have a Lund which is on the higher $ side.
Incredible... just when I thought I was done buying things :ROFLMAO:

Most folks have enough trouble squeezing a 5'7" bed into their garage let alone a 6.5' bed. In my 5' bed, I got over 60 bags of mulch which was good enough for the two times a year I haul anything:D
