Rambox opened while driving

It is happening on my 2021 also. Several times per day. I have power running boards and I noticed that when I get out, just before the running boards retract, I hear a pop and the driver side ram box opens. Super annoying on a brand new truck!
We certainly agree that this is concerning! If you decide to have this addressed by your dealer, please do not hesitate to send us a private message for additional support!

2020 RAM Black Appearance Package and my drivers side Ram Box has literally started this week in doing this. VERY concerning to say the least. Im glad I didn't have anything to fly out while going down the interstate or for something to get stolen. I need this fixed ASAP and dealers remotely near me dont see this as a safety or security issue and are "backed up for the next 2 weeks"... please help

We certainly see that the level of your concern is valid, @BamaRAM2020. We are sorry to hear that your dealer is unavailable for this amount of time. We recommend scheduling your soonest appointment available and sending us a private message with your VIN. We will gladly escalate a case on your behalf for additional support.

I’ve had my 2020 about a week and have noticed the rambox open several times in my driveway and while moving. I don’t think it’s an adjustment issue with the latches. Mine seems to be related to the remote start/door locks/tailgate release. If I remote start the truck and then shut it off, after about 30 seconds, it pops the drivers side rambox open. It’s pretty repeatable but I won’t be able to get to the dealer for at least two weeks. I’ll keep trying to pinpoint when it happens but would be interested to see what someone’s dealer does to fix it.

Hopefully it’s not a software update issue because FCA takes forever to fix actual electronic problems.

Mine does it now too. 1800 miles. 2020 Limited. For me its everytime I shut the truck off, get out... and by the timet he retractable steps are retracting, the box pops open. 99.9% of the time.

Welp...add me to the list. Twice today I had someone flag me down to tell me that my RamBox was open on the driver’s side. Not cool. I haven’t had time to look at the mechanism yet, but based off of these comments, it seems like an electrical, accidental release of the latch. Not sure what the heck to do about that.

Probably just a loose fit (misalignment). It could be that it wasn’t fully latched; the only time this ever happened to me, my father-in-law hadn’t slammed it shut.

same, dealer warrantied the lockingi mech and fixed it that way.

I just traded my 2019 limited and never had this issue now I have a 2021 limited and every time I get out of the truck the drivers side pops open. Very disappointed that I’ve had this truck less than a week and it already needs to go to the dealer.

And...happened again today. Definitely not due to it not being closed completely. I check it and re-check it now. Guess I’ll be seeing if I can get it fixed.

I’ve got mine figured out and repeatable every time. First note, I have an aftermarket remote start with MyCar to start from my phone, my truck doesn’t have nav and therefore no I connect app.

If I start the truck with the aftermarket starter, shut the truck off with the starter, the next time I unlock the truck using either the phone app or the OEM key fob, the driver side Rambox opens as soon as the approach lighting turns off.

Do any of you have aftermarket starters installed as well? I’ll remove mine when I have a chance next week to test without aftermarket parts to confirm if the issue is still present.

For some unknown reason that I can't figure out, My box seems to have fixed itself. It hasn't done it in over a week. And I haven't tried or done anything new.

This is certainly not what we expect for a new vehicle ownership experience. If this is something you decide to address with your Ram dealer, we would be more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process. Please do not hesitate to follow up with additional questions.

No aftermarket starter for me.

Mine is going into the dealer Friday. So I guess we will see what they say.

Well I guess I’m glad it’s not just me. I have a new 2020 BTS edition with about 3200 miles and I kept thinking my kids were climbing all over the bed pushing buttons but this confirms my fear. More tech seems to mean more to break. It just started doing this over the thanksgiving break. And my dealer is 2 hours away. Ugh. Not cool Ram, not cool.

Not just you I keep making the joke that I thought I bought a Rebel edition but in fact I bought a DeLorean edition.
