I just purchased a 2020 Hydro Blue Rebel on Tuesday and got 11,750 off MSRP counting rebates.

Do you mind sharing what the MSRP was? Locally the most I been is 6,000, up to 8,000 (but that one included 2k finance and 2k trade in rebate). Those were MSRP of 59,XXX-62,XXX

Probably a novice comment that I am about to make but might help give perspective:

The dealer (when not directly financing with manufacturer) almost always add 2% to the best new car rate you can find.

The manufacturer seems to add 0.75-1.25%.

My local credit union was 1.99% for 60 mo or 2.24% for 72. Then the 84 mo was a horrendous 3.4%.

I feel that the extra $500-$1k savings incentive of financing through the dealer/manufacturer is not worth it. Although i was told i can refinance in 90 days, I do not trust the market enough to make the gamble with rates as good as they are now.

I'd much rather deal with a local credit union. Any questions or concerns I just drive over there. I don't see the FCA financing as worth it.
I financed through a dealer once; but they used my credit union and the rate matched what I would have received going direct. The salesman had been good to me on a few purchases so I said if it helped them to get me the loan, match the rate with my bank and I'm good. That is what they did so it was a win/win for both of us.

Guess thats what I should have asked for. It seems like a loophole that we can get the discount while still requesting the same rate as personal bank.

Usually the dealer has a better relationship with all banks due to volume, so seems favorable indeed!

So a fully loaded Rebel could be as high as $75K maybe more. To get to $45K OTD, the negotiated price would be around $40K or so. So you're asking if you could get a $35K off MSRP? Talk to BigBoi, he has a secret technique whereby he "forces" dealerships to take tens of thousands off MSRP or he walks. He might be able to help you.

The exceptional deals of 2020 have passed. The real winners from the Covid deals were people with no trade. Trades took such a hit that the savings on the new truck were wiped out by the drop in trade prices. I would expect no more than 20-25% on any remaining 2020’s due to tight supply. As long as they are selling, the dealer will wait for the right buyer. I made my deal on a truck the dealer received from a dealer trade. They seemed motivated to sell in that case. You just have to find the truck they are trying to move.

Eventually the legend will grow to the point where he was given the truck and an annuity payment FROM the dealership.

Paying Off the Chrysler Financial was a pain. They held the money and then waited three weeks to mail the lien release. Then the finance lady called me as well. She says i agreed to make three months payments. I said please point to that in the loan documents. She said it was a verbal agreement. I said well her salesman agreed to pay off my loan for me, it was also a verbal agreement. The phone went click.

For the most part the only thing people embellish on more than how big of a fish they caught is how much they saved on their new car/truck purchase.

Don’t get me wrong there are some straight up honest posts in this thread, but for the most part it’s a psychological human condition to want to justify a large purchase like a new truck and not feel like you’ve been had. So you stretch your imagination to feel better.

If you can get 20% off MSRP on a new truck you’ve done very, very well. 15% and you still pissed the dealer off.

If you traded something in for your new Ram then you shouldn’t even be allowed to post here and say what you paid for your new truck because you actually don’t know.

Even 20-25% off is best case optimistic right now on a 2020. In March, I was at 25% and that was the max at a time with $8500 rebates. I didn't buy because the dealer sales mgr played games and said he wouldn't honor the price the internet manger quoted so I walked. I hoped Covid would make prices better but it was the opposite. I bought in July and managed to get myself to 19% and a slightly better interest rate (1%better ) so it somewhat balanced out but not nearly as good as prices were in March

I am posting this as encouragement to all of you actively searching for the best deals: they’re out there! Posted below is my 19 Bighorn that I bought in October 2019.. it just took some patience on my part. The dealer honored that exact internet price expect I didn’t qualify for just one $1000 rebate. so I ended up getting it for $38700 before TTL... OTD was right around $40500. Looking around today I still see similar deals in the area (this is for Bighorns with Level 2 and the 8.4 screen. Anything higher, 12in screen, sunroof, etc, is way more.) There are some great Bighorn deals out there for sure. Maybe when you go up a level, such as Laramie or Rebels the deals aren’t as good.

I mostly agree with you. Even in my disagreement, I agree with part of your comment. You say that a person who traded when they bought doesn't know their true price. In many cases that's true, but in mine and some others (I assume), I had fully negotiated the new truck price and agreed on that price prior to discussing a trade. I was willing and committed to buying that truck even if I decided not to trade my truck on the purchase.

In the end, I traded my truck in, but I am VERY confident in knowing my true price paid for my new RAM.

The generalization you made is quite condescending. Your statement might be true with the general public, but in a forum group (who tend to be enthusiasts and/or otherwise more detail oriented than the general public) I think you're making too broad of an assumption.

Can't agree with this more.

Or those that give literally zero break down of the actual discount.

"I got 50% off MSRP" ...

That's nice, but not everyone is trading in their car nor eligible for all the rebates.

A poorly optioned one with a 52Kish MSRP - possibly.
Fully loaded one, highly doubtful.

Rebels historically have had some of the worst discounts on them.

I find the appeal of the rebel confusing. I think it should be priced at or slightly below a laramie.

We could just install the mopar lift on the laramie and tires, and basicslly be there.

Plus something about the rear seats in the rebel just feels cheap. The laramie and limited seem different - i know the reclining function but not sure what else makes that differencd.
