Chirp/Squeak from brand new Laramie Sport

I bought this truck brand new and this is a video I took of the squeaking noise that it had from the day I drove it home. I never noticed it driving around for the test drive on smooth rides but the minute the ride got a little bumpy, this started. Now, it’s 3 weeks later and I finally have it in the shop and no resolution for it yet. I’ve opened a case with Fiat Chrysler and I’m at the point that I want them to buy the truck back and get a Ford or Chevrolet. Something doesn’t sit right with me to have a $56,000 vehicle that has had repairs done less than month from owning it. Has anyone else had this issue?

I copied the link to the video I put on Youtube of the problem.

Thanks!

in case anyone is following.. the dealership acknowledged the issue and told me there is nothing they can do they don’t know how to fix it.

Mine does that too on a sharp bump. Not as bad as yours though. I thought I read somewhere that there is a brake caliper or retaining clip issue causing the chirp. I'm sure others more seasoned here will point you in the direction of a thread.

Same here in my 2020 Bighorn. Just waiting until I rotate the tires to apply some caliper grease in the proper locations. It used to be much louder and happened all the time. Now it only happens when I put on the brakes and it's barely audible. The dealership can be hit or miss, mostly miss

So are we just supposed to be ok with this quality of build? I mean we are paying over 50k for these trucks. I’m about to buy a Toyota.

Mine makes that sound too. Seems to be coming from the passenger side rear area as far as I can tell.

We are all suckers, might as well have a lollipop wrapper on our heads. The entire pick up truck market is ridiculously over priced but here we are. Try buying a BMW for $50k, you'll end up in a moderately equipped 3 series

Does it bother you like it bother me!? Like, am I being unreasonable?

It brothers me and no you're not being unreasonable! I'll bring it up when I take it in for my first oil change. But mine is nowhere near loud as yours.

I brought it to the dealerships attention, a tech rode with me and heard the noise multiple times, agreed there was an issue. 2 hours later they called and said there is nothing they can do they don’t know how to fix it. I have the paperwork that literally says “audible chirp, advise customer to come back if it gets worse”

Damn it, mine didn't do it until I seen your video . I started listening and mine does it as well on sharp bumps, not nearly as bad as the one in the video. If it does not get worse i'll live with it. I had a 2019 ridgeline and a 15 silverado. both had various minor squeaks as well. The squeaking in the video is unacceptable however.

Well the video is me driving on a dirt road with a lot of the “proper” type of bumps that make the noise. On a normal paved street it isn’t as bad bc it takes a certain type of depression in the road like a manhole cover or shallow pot hole.

Thank you for the follow up on this. If you would be willing to send over your VIN and any additional details via PM, I would like to get your situation formally documented and escalated on the customer care side.

Hi @Wsmith - Should you need to address this with your dealer, please know that we are just a private message away and more than willing to provide support for that process!

That would drive me insane and no, it's not acceptable.
