still liking these tires? these are my top choice now, I'm just worried about the LT / harsh ride.
I love them! they drive great on wet roads and noise is minimal for how big and aggressive they are. road bumps are felt a little bit more than on a light 4ply tire. I really like the way it feels. i May keep my stock Wheels/ Falken tires and put them on for long road trips as the gas mileage on a lifted truck with 34” tires is impacted. All in all I love them. the wear very slowly also.

Now that you've had the tires a few months, how do you like them?

I disliked my toyo at2 I had. I had 33” on a 22” rim. Never could get a good balance. But worst part, couldn’t even pull boat out of lake. I don’t have 4x4 and stock tires barely spun if they spun. These toyo were smoking by time they finally grabbed. Not good in wet pavement either. At least in az

The AT2s on my 2016 Rebel, they weren't good in the rain, and I got rid of them with a few thousand miles on them.
I wouldn't even sell them to someone, I didn't want to give someone else that problem, I hated them just that much.

The AT3s with the new rubber compound has me seriously interested.
The tread is more AT than M/T (like the duratrac), and the tire is slightly lighter.
I'm wondering if the Toyos will improve the MPG to a small degree.

i just put the new rims and 285/60r20 Toyo’s on. Got them from Custom Offsets. Pretty happy with the price and service. Had them put on hardrock crusher 20x9 rims.
LOVE THESE TIRES. Don’t have a ton of time on them but so far they are amazing. I’m replacing Falken wildpeaks wi 8700 mile. I really liked the Falken tires and was A bit worried moving to a LT rated tire but my worries are gone. A tad bit firmer than the Falken but by no means rough. Very quiet. I’m hearing more wind noise due to being less aerodynamic but I don’t really hear more road noise. I also love that these are also 3 peak rated for snow. We go to Colorado 3-4 time a yr to snowboard and I need good tires in snow. Anyway...I’m a fan.
I went through a set of Falken Wildpeaks on my previous truck.... Then installed a set of 10 ply Toyo AT3. I ran them for about 4000 miles before I traded that truck in for my ram. Now my ram has the Falkens again. In my opinion, the Falkens are "ok" in general, and mediocre in the winter.

I really liked the toyos in the dry, wet, and sand, but I'm bummed that I didn't get the chance to try them in the snow.

One of the improvements Toyo made from the AT2 to the AT3 was this!

I'll be very curious about their snow performance as well.
I've run BF Goodrich KO2s, Wrangler Duratracs on Rams in the snow.
Both were great, if you MADE me pick one, I liked the KO2 better, if for no other reason than personal biases.
I would trust both again.

I personally believe the 3PMSF rating is not to be dismissed, it's the real deal.
The tread and the rubber compound (at those low temperatures) have to work together to conquer that snow.

On a highway in a blizzard the duratracs were fantastic. I had incredible grip, and the highway wasn't well plowed.
The KO2s were used during a surprise snowstorm where no plows or salt made it to the road, and there were ice patches.
It was humbling for a lot of people. I think most drivers will say, "Oh I have AWD I'm fine." And they're riding on balding highway tires that "have enough tread." The tires were great in the snow!
On perfectly plowed and salted roadways. 2 years ago.
So many vehicles were stuck, or spinning, or sliding - the KO2s were perfect, I could have driven 40mph in 4x4 all the way home, and in some stretches I did, until the gridlock hit.

After that experience? There are a TON of tradeoffs I would make for absolute tire performance.
Cost, noise, a little MPG - I would give up all of those if needed to have F**king awesome traction in horrible conditions. At least where I live, on a snowy coast. I did not buy this factory offroader to be defeated by a little bit of rain or sleet!

So do you prefer the duratracs or the KO2s for snow/ice? It sounds like you were impressed with both of them?

Have you used the Falken Wildpeaks in the snow.... And if so, how do they compare in your mind?

In what I got to drive them, I liked both in those winter seasons, I really did. Unless I'm remembering wrong, I did 2 winters each with them!

For the KO2, I felt the traction was good in everything, it was very hard to get them to slip. Note: I never got to wheel it hard, but I did get to take it on some snowy off the road terrain. I liked it in the short distance I used it.
At times I've made the duratracs spin with a little too much gas pedal, but it never got me unexpectedly - I was not able to do that with the KO2s.
The KO2s have a reputation for a mushy sidewall, they certainly did on my 2016 rebel. I think it's a tradeoff of the softer/grippier rubber.
If I don't like the Toyo AT3s, I would go back to KO2s. The look is a bonus.

I haven't driven the Falken AT3Ws, but I suspect that due to the 3PMSFW rating for severe snow, probably a good tire too.
Again the only knock I can think of, they're heavy. For me, I'm pretty set on a tire with that snowflake rating as a mandatory item on a tire.

The duratracs are described as a hybrid AT/MT tire. It's in between. It performs well in the snow, is a little better onroad than a pure mud terrain, but not as good in pure mud. Still a good performer on other things.

I suspect the Toyo's balance is more toward the road/AT side. Not that it's not capable offroad, but I'm thinking the Duratrac would be better than the Toyo in the mud. I think they would be close performers in most other mediums, and I think the Toyo is going to be better onroad. Looking at the tread, I'm thinking I might get a little bit of highway performance back.
Dry pavement at speed, I would take the KO2 over the duratrac.

And the Falkens that come stock on the Rams don't have the 3PMSF rating.

These are the tires on my 2020. Looks like the 3 peak symbol to me? Is there something I'm missing?

That's really interesting, I think he made an innocent mistake- The falken wildpeak AT3Ws are different from the AT3WA tires.
But those -A tires, looks like they do have the 3PMSF rating

Pretty neat. Both those tires AND the duratracs, 3PMSF rated.

I agree, that is interesting. My apologies Fishwiz.

No apology needed. I was very curious. I had Wildpeaks AT3W on a previous truck and liked them, but was not particularly impressed in the winter performance. Then I was on a set of Toyo AT3 and liked them alot, but never got to try them in the snow.

When I saw the tires on my new Ram, I was happy not to see highway tires, but felt so-so about the Falkens installed. At least I don't NEED to swap tires right away. I still don't understand the difference between the AT3W and the AT3WA that Ram is using for OEM tires. Load rating is similar.... I assume the "a" version is cheaper?

Here's the AT3W side by side with the AT3Wa:

1599969571929.png 1599969580764.png

coming up with some guesses on their reasons.
1) I guess the A model probably is a more road biased tire, likely lighter and that comparatively less aggressive tread, I think it's also on a mercedes SUV of some sort.
Better traction on road, plus better MPG
2) I guess they gave the rebel duratracs for "exclusivity" to the package, while still giving offroad package guys a good competent tire.
3) If you put a falken AT3W on the offroad package, with how popular that tire is, it might actually hurt rebel sales. There's a chance of that.

Guess I'm the odd man out. I don't like the Toyo ATIII at all. It's ugly, sidewalls are less aggressive than the ATII Xtreme sizes, center tread looks like a 1980s design, they're heavier, and they are WAY over priced compared to the competition.

But, that's why it's great to have options for everyone!
I've never had a good TOYO tire truck or car.

What did you not like about their winter performance?

Mediocre (or poor) traction on packed snow and ice. I have a reasonably steep driveway that in would actually slide down in the morning... Watching me slide down the driveway was my son's favorite part about snowy mornings.
