Alright after a 18 miles drive home I’m about 99.99% confident my noise is gone. I normally heard it 15-20 times on a normal drive home. Didn’t hear it once. I almost forgot how quiet these cabs are!
You might end up the BIGGEST hero on 5thgenrams.com if you solved this one! Maybe @Jared B can give you a hat or t-shirt :D

I just went outside to inspect and it appears there is a silver piece of metal inbetween the frame mount and the body. I trieded to loosen it but it was on their pretty tight and I decided to just leave it alone. I only been getting the knock maybe once a day since I tightened up my sway bar. If this does prove to work then I may just have to give it my full efforts lol

Correct body must be dented in that spot to remove the contact. To be honest I don’t think there’s a certain degree just as needed. And it’s difficult to explain through text. The picture is of the body where the mount and bracket make contact. Fingers crossed I don’t hear it on my drive home.
Strange that a plastic or hard foam shim in that spot wouldn't solve the problem?!

I agree which is very possible to be the fix but right now it’s all I have to work with. I right away said this is a stupid design having metal on metal in this spot.

So if this is a cab mount why is there no bushing?
This isn’t the cab mount itself. There’s the frame in blue. The mount is in the yellow. The bracket that is against the cab is in red. The bracket goes from inside the rocker to the cab. It sits between the mount and cab.

Ahhh I see, went outside and took a couple pictures as well. Looks like the plate that has to be removed is in-between the body mount bushing and the cab itself, more of just a reinforcing plate it seems.

Mine is doing it as well. I heard it the 2nd day. Most of the time, its a single clunk...but lately, I've gotten 2 in a row...like metal on metal sticking to one another. Build date...8/18.

I have a service appointment lined up for Monday. I'm going to lead them to this thread and hope for the best.

Alright everyone, after a long tedious 2 day process I believe my noise is gone. After talking with the stars and support team they sent me an image. It’s under the black bracket under the a-pillar body mount (one right below the front doors). Had to remove all the cab bolts lift the cab up and remove that black bracket and the mount. The attached picture is the witness marks of the body to the black bracket making contact. The “fix” is to “dish or dent” the body up some so it doesn’t make contact with the bracket. After getting it all back together and a couple test drives I didn’t hear the noise once. Where before I would hear it basically pulling out of the shop all through the lot.

Great work.! Is this on both sides ?

I too have the clunk, build date 7/18. I feel it more than I can hear it, underneath my left foot. Had the issue since I picked up the truck. I was concerned about how I was going to explain this issue to my service department, so I thought I would look on this forum first and found this thread. Thanks a lot Delmonico_19 for making my life a whole lot easier. Now if I can get the excess wind noise issue from the drivers side door fixed I will have a perfect truck. Love the truck even with these two issues.

So everyone knows from what I am told this is in the que to be published as a bulletin for a repair.

Thanks a lot! Did they say what the fix will officially be or how the bulletin will state to fix the issue? And I imagine you haven't had any clunks at all since?

Did not tell me any specifics just that it is in the queue. I haven’t had any clunks since. Cautiously optimistic it’s fixed lol.

Nice work Delmontico! Just heard and felt the cluck in my truck for the second time today. I hoped on the forum to see if others have experienced the issue and I find that a solution is already in the works! What an awesome resource. Thanks to all that helped work this issue.

My service manager who has been having this same issue—-he emailed me and said his truck is fixed. I gave him the service bulletin about the cab bolts being too long. He didn’t say if he had to “dish” out ......all he said was “thanks a lot Brian, this fixed my truck.” So I’ll be calling this morning to speak with him and/or my advisor for an apt.

Is there an actual bulletin now?
