Is that necessary to disconnect the battery negative while doing the installation?

Just had 2 recalls done today and had them add the sales code into the computer for the oem trailer brake controller I installed a few weeks ago. $60- to add the sales code along with 2 recalls done too all in 25 minutes. Couldn't complain about that. It's pretty nice having the trailer brake settings on the instrument cluster screen.

What other recalls did you have done?

I have to setup my appt for flash on brake controller. $60 or below sounds reasonable.

do you disconnect the battery negative before doing this?
also, is there any pry tools needed to remove the front panel?

Yes disconnect the battery.

I used a small pry tool on the front. Little pulling the front stero panel comes off.

My local dealer told me today it would be June before i see mine ..
That's for the kit which is the expensive way to do it. Check out the first post in the thread below. He lists out all the parts in the kit. Its cheaper to buy them separately. I got all parts purchased and shipped for $114. The parts shipped in 2 days from moparamerica.com. Going to the dealer Thursday to have the sales code added.

I didnt! I also wouldnt recommend following the directions, because they will have you remove kick panel, then radio, install module, then controller. Just do one to completion, then complete the other.

Thanks dude, never done that to a vehicle yet..

Btw, do you need a pry tool to open the radio?

Just did mine yesterday. A pry tool helps get things started. Once you can get your fingers behind the plastic, then you get better feedback using your hands (that you are not damaging anything).

Just make sure it is a plastic one to keep from marring things. I have had great luck with the Harbor Freight "Pittsburgh" 5 piece set. Part #64126. It is firm plastic that you can pry with, but soft enough to keep from scratching. I've had other plastic tools that are too flimsy to pry with.

I should have taken photos, but I was in a hurry. So, I started with the module, it goes to the right of the bottom access area pretty much to the left of your center stack on a support, you'll see the 3 mounting holes. Then I removed the top pad (next to power outlet) and removed the 2 screws. I cringed numerous times as I was trying to pull the radio off. I almost went as far as grabbing just the display portion (DON'T DO THAT.) For me, it was easiest to start at the bottom right and pull on the lower corner. I did use a pry tool in the beginning to even out the pressure but not sure it helped much. Once the first clip disengaged, the rest followed rather easy. Make sure your pulling on the outermost sides where the center panel meets the dash. It really is easy once you get that center stack out. Also be careful after pulling it out so you don't scratch it or the floor console area. I would recommend a towel to protect both pieces. I may know this last bit from experience.

F’ing insane. I posted a pic from my dealer showing $37.50. I’d take that back to him and tell him to F off!

Just curious, moparamerica.com had the module and switch in stock? I have called 10+ stores and no one has them.

I printed off your worksheet, and showed him...................min charge for programming is $165....
I'll be looking for another dealer to do it, and take all of my service work elsewhere. That is just pure robbery, when you consider how long it actually takes to flash.
