Wind noise

Picked my truck up Saturday and drove it on a trip of 150 miles and no more tea kettle whistling!!!!!

They didn’t have the full report written up yet but are supposed to email it to me when done so I can share it. They said the fix was moving a piece of foam blocking behind the trim of the A-pillar on the driver side.

Now I can say I am really happy with my truck and it’s a joy to drive. That was the only issue I’ve had on my truck with about 3700 miles on it now.
:)

Here is the write up on the fix for the whistle noise my truck had. It wasn't moving a piece of foam like I was told when I picked it up.

That firewall leak has shown up on a couple of threads now... leading to noise and/or moisture in the cab.

I am impressed with the effort of the Maryland dealership.

I have not noticed any noise or moisture, but will watch, we get a lot of winds here in northern Colorado right along the Rockies... and a lot of precipitation

Wow, I just read every tread on this post in hopes of a solution to my wind noise issue. Can’t believe I’m trying to find a fix for the most expensive item I have ever purchased outside of homes after only 3 weeks of ownership. I had to trade in a 2016 Silverado for a shaking issue and now this!

Hi sims1dh,
We completely understand your disappointment and we truly apologize that you have run into this concern with your brand new truck. Please send us a private message so we can have this documented and help you address this with your dealer.

I am going over to the dealer tomorrow since they have had it 10 days now with trial and error not working. Will show them the fix from Maryland and see. GM has been nice giving me a loaner but hate driving a brand new truck that is not mine. By the way, its Lonestar edition and NO WIND noise at all. Altogether, they have had my truck 6 weeks. That's about a month and half of payments in which I have not had my truck.

I've been following these RAM threads for some time now. Im having wind noise but it's more like something is open or widt is getting in between the door and plastic panel on my passenger side. Anyone else getting this strange wind buffering noise also? I've tried everything and cannot find the source....(already traded out of one 2019 due to tons of issue now this one is in the shop all of the time and all dealers seem extremely incompetent) Not trying to hijack the thread but anyone getting any dash and steering wheel rattles? Mine is horrible...

Picked mine up Friday and they still have not taken care of the sound. Nor the squealing brakes they say they fixed. (2nd stint at the dealer, Nov 26-Dec 31 and Mar 26-April 5). Tired of incompetence myself. Was wanting to trade out but if you're having issues after trading, maybe I need to back to Ford.

All I can add is that my Rebel has the worst "wind buffeting" when one window is open, of any vehicle I have ever owned. BUT, when the windows are all up, it's the quietest vehicle I've ever been in.

I have to agree with this. My truck is SUPER quiet with the windows up. But if I put the front windows down and get up over 40 or so, the buffeting is horrid. Even with the rear slider open I get really incredible buffeting. The only fix right now is to open the back windows slightly. I am considering adding side window deflectors, but WeatherTech does not have the available yet.

Yeah I figured it was just a fluke but had the second truck was built specially for me in Detroit (I think) and shipped within 12 days. I had corporate involved and things got pushed through pretty quick because my other truck had some serious issues and they had no clue how to fix it. Second day second truck started having issues, now it's over 4 months later and not one problem fixed. If anything when I take it to the dealership they literally make everything worse. I get it back with door
dings more rattles scratch panels ect..I've been going through issues since 6-17-18.. I am a RAM guy and no offense to anyone but if I could go back and do it all over I definitely wouldn't buy this or any RAM. I also would not have traded back into one. I wish I would have just went to Chevy or Ford LOL never had issues with either of those brands(yet)... As for the wind noise I think maybe there is some confusion, but mine is happening when the windows are up everything is closed. My first truck that I traded out of was super quiet minus all the rattles but this one is terribly loud. Just sounds like wind/ air is getting in from some where. The buffering noise I'm explaining is when the windows are up, it's like the wind is getting in between something. I've literally tried everything. I've had the dealership adjust all the doors windows etc nothing fixes it. I'm sure it's some flaw in the way it's made since the quality control is horrible on these new models. Just my opinion but I think RAM has some SERIOUS quality control issues and they need to address a way to fix their incompetency issues at the dealerships I've been to over 5 dealerships no luck. I live in the DFW (Texas) area... Just one example of the quality control and and competency issues.... First truck I had body defects (like crooked bumper crooked doors crooked tailgate crooked rear bumper) paint defects and I can't believe they even let it out of the factory like that. Then you go to the dealership and tell them and show them and they say it's supposed to be like that WTH.. Another example for y'all is my new truck clatters like it has spark knock/ pre detonation and it sounds terrible. I'm sure it's the VVT or MDS not advancing or retarding the timing correctly. The dealership gets confused and they say it's supposed to do that LMFAO. I am mechanic by trade and these trucks are definitely not supposed to do that. I'm so frustrated it's almost funny at this point... But...sorry guys I got off track, back to the wind noise. If anybody has any ideas let me know.

Dang, now I'm worried about trading for another IF they finally get right on $$$. The Laramie I'm looking at is a"Sport" model with different hood. I did drive a base Longhorn they loaned me. It did not make a single sound in strong winds they days I drove it. I did enquire about a new Ford Lariat. It just isn't as dressed out as my Laramie.

Mine is a Laramie sport 4x4 with the sport Hood and color matching everything (I believe it's Ivory White/. It's a really nice truck and I love the interior but the problems just outweigh everything. I've got to the point where I can't even stand driving thing... Now if I were only to have a DeLorean gun it to 88 before all this happened LOL..

Can u please take pictures of that sealing they added, I have sake tea kettle whistle

I can't get to the area as it was behind the dash on the drivers side somewhere near the a-pillar.

Sounds just like one I found to trade for. Will take it out to test drive on a windy today (today would be great if I could : 35-45 mph sustained winds).

So we had some serious winds yesterday and I heard it for the first time ever going one direction at 80-85

I am thinking it is different than what you guys are experiencing since mine seemed like it was behind me.

Anyway it caught my attention.
