Etorque is still standard on V6. They could have easily taken the feature away to save some money/weight/ and complexity if it was not worth the hassle.

eTorque is the ONLY option on a V6.
They did the same exact thing with the Hemi. Normal Hemi->optional eTorque Hemi->only eTorque Hemi->removed Hemi.
Cost more money to re-tool to remove it again.
Removing parts doesn't save Ram money, anything they buy and put in gets marks up and added to the price for more profit.

Good idea.
(looks at thread name)
I am not happy with my eTorque, waste of parts and I miss saving all them tasty mpgs while coasting at low speeds in a 6000lbs truck.

Well I'm happy with my eTorque , low speed coasting and saving all those tasty city MPGs

I didn't choose the etorque. I tried like Heck to order a 2022 at the time of my purchase (Oct 2022) but I was like a week too late.
Had to order a '23 and no choice then, Had to get the etorque as it was no longer an option.
Also got screwed by early production on my screen. Because of shortages even though I ordered option level 2, I have a 8.4 screen with U5 whereas I should have received a 12 inch screen but they where putting those in the TRX's and Limited's at the time.

I did find that I think a lot of the lag I am feeling from coasting/braking to moving again is probably more transmission related and ETorque. For example, if I am slowing to take a left across traffic and need to accelerate quickly to get across the road there would be a huge lag between when I hit the gas and when the truck moves causing it to be very jerky. I thought it was the ETorque, but shutting it off does not change anything, so I think it is more transmission/throttle setting rather than the engine shutting down and restarting.

It's definitely the etorque. Try driving your truck in ERS mode and ask this BS will be solved.

I did make sure that my 2019 5.7 did not have it. Not an option for removing in 2024 and 2025.
I don't see the point, it does not add any HP or TQ. it does not improve mileage
I live in PHX metro area and, we have started to creep up towards 110+ temperatures for 5 months (I have lived here since 1978 -- so I know the pain!!).
I don't want my AC to shut-off when this crap feature activates at every stop.

My 24 e torque does not shut down if the fan is ON. I shut it 1/2 the time maybe. Does start and shut off smoother than any other I ve experienced. Just don t think it saves much, but maybe depends on your driving conditions.

It doesn’t help enough for fuel mileage to justify the expense/complications of the system. Most of this junk is made to appease the climate gods

Drive your truck in ERS mode and defeat this stupid etorque and MDS completely.
You do realize this doesn't do anything to the etorque system right? Yes, it will turn MDS off but the etorque generator isn't gonna magically decouple itself mechanically from the truck.

For me I don't mind MDS and the push button for the auto start/stop system is right near where my fingers rest on my leg. I press the start button on the truck and immediately hit the as/s button. It's second nature. I hate that it's on the majority of vehicles now.

Alternatively - our CR-V that's a hybrid and turns the engine off all the time is literally seamless. There's no option to disable it naturally but it's so smooth.

My Ram is better than my 2019 Highlander. That stop/start is awful.

Yea, I wasn't trying to say I don't think it's good - I just don't like it. Even in Georgia it's too hot to be cutting the engine off during the summer. It's definitely one of the better ones that aren't a "full" hybrid like our CR-V.

Our old pacifica was awful with the AS/S system.

Ram with ET is one of the best A.S.S systems I’ve driven
I agree with this if you want a vehicle with stop/start. It is very seamless. But for those of us who don't want stop/start there's nothing better than an engine which doesn't have it.

Shouldn't be much of an issue since it won't shut off if the cabin temperature has not reached close proximity to your set temperature and it will automatically restart if it gets too warm.
