What is Known about the Bed Utility Group Options

They are option on those models whereas the top of the line ones come with it standard.
Someone posted the brochure above and it said spray in liner tradesman, big horn, Laramie only. That sounds like the BUG has the liner standard for those models right?

Yes top of line above Laramie already have the spray in liner(with BUG), optional on sport/rebel(you can get BUG with or without liner) and part of a package with tradesman, big horn and Laramie.

No BUG or liner came with my Laramie unless I wanted to pay for it.

I didn't notice the bed extender studs were missing from my 2019 Limited until a couple months after delivery when I was loading some cargo, tried to attach the divider as a bed extender and "What the . . .!" No attachment studs. I went to the dealer and after convincing the service guy that there were actually some pieces missing, they said they would install the missing pieces but it would take about a month to get them. Two days before the service appointment, the service department called me and "Oh by the way, those pieces don't actually come with the truck, so you'll have to pay for them. I can get you an estimate, probably a couple hundred bucks." I politely said I'd think it over, went over to the dealership and spoke with my sales guy, who realized that I had just got a line of BS. When I ordered my RAM, I specced it, and paid for it, with BOTH the BUG and the RamBox Cargo Management System. Just in case there was any doubt, I pulled up the RAM website on my phone and showed the salesguy this picture of the divider in its three positions, including as a bed extender, which is "included with the available RamBox Cargo Management System." Showing a picture of the bed extender, stating its included with the RamBox, but not including the mounting studs would be a nasty little trick and would make this pretty obvious false advertising. Sales guy apologized, had a chat with the service folks, and although the parts are on back-order, when they come in, the installation will be at no charge.

Is there a website for the photo of this?

I'm picking up my new RAM 1500 Laramie tomorrow. It has the bed utility group. Does that mean it should have the rails that the divider will attach to already? I'd love to get a bed divider, but really don't want to pay more for the rails. The specs aren't clear if the truck already has what it needs to use the divider.

The bed of my Rambox eqquiped truck has a series of vertical "slots" that the bed divider hooks into. It doesn't use the bed rails. I'm assuming the regular bed is similar.

The non-Rambox equipped truck with the utility group does have rails for the hooks to slide on. I'm not sure if the factory bed divider slides on this. I have a couple of minor problems with my truck that will be inconvenient to fix, so I'm hoping I can get the dealer to throw one in for my trouble along with some slush mats.

I just went through this with my dealer. I purchased a new 1500 bighorn that was on the lot. It had the important features that I wanted, which included the RAMBOX as well as the BUG. ;)

Wouldn't you know it, when I went to pick up the truck, I asked the salesman to demo how the extender is mounted and of course it was missing the mounting hardware as discussed in this thread.

He said "oh yes, I remember seeing a written notice that the 'extender' feature was dropped because someone lost a load of cargo and sued RAM over this. So they pulled the feature and now all the brochures, have been amended to remove the word "extender".

I also asked about the retractable bed step, as I wanted that also. This was also removed from all the catalogs, and parts can't find a reference to it. So I can't even order one if I wanted it. I'm not sure of the reason for this.

One thing that was strange to me, while I was shopping for trucks at different dealerships, I noticed that the tie-down mounting rails were all anodized black, which I thought looked great. They sort of disappeared especially on the trucks that had the spray-in bed liner. But on the truck that I picked up, the tie-down rails seemed to be anodized silver, which is a contrast to the black truck and black spray in bed liner. I tried to ask if it was a mistake, but he said no, that's how they are. In fact, another slightly older truck parked next to mine also had silver tie-down rails.

Does everyone have silver tie-down rails? A black set would look much nicer IMHO. Perhaps my memory was wrong as to what I saw at other dealers?

Mine are black. I got the step and the extender pins ordered by my dealer and put on at no cost when I bitched they weren't there.

I wish I had the black ones. if anyone in New England wants to swap their black for some silver colored versions, let me know!

Could you post the part numbers for the step? My dealer couldn't find it at all and say's it is now discontinued.

It’s not discontinued. It’s been replaced with a newer part number. It’s on order and hasn’t shown up yet. Part #82215289AD

Thanks for this info! I'll check with my dealer to see if this number works. Previously he couldn't find anything to order.

I did just email an aftermarket company to see if they will have anything for the new trucks, let's hope there will be something availble one way or another.

My salesman called me today with an update about the missing hardware for the extendor functionality (I have Ram Boxes).

He stated that FCA had to discontinue selling the extendor because the tail lights are considered obscured by the extendor. Customers are supposed to be contacted with a credit offer, but no timeline was given. I’ve contacted a “RamCares Specialist” as well, but no response thus far.

I ordered the divider ("formerly" extender) from a dealer last night. I'll update if I receive a shipping notice or a cancellation notice.
