I guess "cold enough" is relative. I don't think my truck should be on full speed fan for over an hour and not get the truck to a reasonable temp (70-72) when it's 90 degrees outside. Especially when I have full ceramic tint on the vehicle. I can only imagine what it would be like without the tint....I may still end up taking it to the dealer to see if they can give it a once over.

You know, something just occurred to me. Maybe I’m way off base here, but…
The eTorque models have a 430 wH battery inside the passenger cabin. That battery, to my understanding, gets some pretty significant use during regular city driving. So I wonder how much heat it generates. Is this thing like a radiator that you would have in an apartment? I’m just thinking about how hot an iPhone gets sometimes, and scaling it up by a factor of 30 (or so).

I don’t have my truck yet, so I’m no help with answering that question.
This is a separate thought from the “AC vents don’t blow cold air in the first place” thing…I was just wondering if the battery compounds the cabin-cooling issue.

Ordered the Muzzys a/c hack. Been thinking about it for a while. Did some work to my mother's 06 Ion this weekend, and when test driving the car, the a/c nearly froze me out. Pretty sad when a 15 year old economy car makes your new truck feel inferior!

I had the same realization when I drove my ladies Kia Sorento. I thought why the hell is this so cold.

Update on the sound deadening/audio upgrade process. Was able to finish my sound deadening and adding poly fill to the HK sub this weekend. Currently in a heat wave in Boise, ID so it was a struggle.

Pulled the HK Sub out and added poly fil to all of the empty space, making sure to leave room for the sub to move. Didn't make a HUGE difference, but sounds more solid all around.

I wrapped the outside of mine when I did my interior and added the 2nd sub behind the passenger side. Sounds good that way too.

At least there's a TSB on it. Not sure why dealers are fighting against doing it.

I have a 2021 and I will say it doesn't get freezing cold but cold enough.

I rarely go past speed 5 on regular AC, not max/recirculation. The ceramic /IR tint seems to make a significant difference, windshields done too, Wincos 70%. Truck cools down in about 10 min then I'm having to lower the fan speed.

That said, it's no where near as cold as my 03, it'd freeze meat

Adds a valve to your heater hose line that allows you to reduce or shut off flow, which should in turn reduce temps in your cab. Many here have installed this and state they have been able to reduce a/c temps by 5 degrees or so. Any reduction in my a/c temps will be welcome. Here's a link:

Can buy the valve yourself for like $10 with clamps. People will pay more for something labeled a "kit" for a specific vehicle.

My 2020 cools great. Built in July 2020. Use the "auto" setting at 71 degrees in summer and keeps cabin comfortable. I can set it to "max" A/C with recirculate and it will freeze me out.

The e-torque battery has its own cooling fan but I've never noticed additional heat from the back seat

If you’re willing to try it I’d suggest tinting the windshield with a ceramic film too. Even something legal like 70% will help. My AC sucked big time and I swear ever since I tinted my windshield with 60% 3M Crystalline it’s been night and day different. I don’t really understand why but me (and my buddy with a 2020 Ram) both tinted our windshields and we think our ACs are working a lot better now!

I read the 3 reviews on Amazon on this hack. The first review complained about the poor quality hose clamps (easy fix). He stated that he had a 2021. Everything I have seen states that they fixed this problem on the 21's. I have an appointment at the dealer. They are kind of giving me the run around on it, I think I will cancel the "evaluation appointment" I have scheduled this week and just get this and put some quality hose clamps on it.

What kind of run-around are they giving you? I've read that some dealers want to do a couple of diagnostics before agreeing to the repair, while others will just take the tsb info and do the fix.

Very true. One thing I don't have much of these days is time, so if I can have it shipped to me while I work on other things, and then make time to install it after it arrives, it's an hour's store trip I didn't have to waste.

also have some other goodies on the truck, but thats my main visual/suspension setup

spent the afternoon cutting a few scratches in the paint, polishing, and coating the truck. still need to do the glass & wheels, but i managed to get the truck, trim, and bed cover for now. it stays parked during the week, so plenty of cure time! has me actually enjoying owning a black truck again
