What did you do to your Ram today???

Installed the (orange) Hellwig today haha.

Not sure if this is gonna work on an underbody suspension part that is constantly under attack by the elements... Esp in the north east.... BUUUUT what i did was orange plasti-dip... like 600 coats 🥵🤪, then 2 coats of a Rustoleum automotive paint orange on top of the dip.

I've had good luck with the things i have dipped in the past and always been surprised at what it stands up to, albeit, none of them were torsion bars haha. So this could all fall off with the twisting, or whatever else goes on under there, but what i'm hoping is that even if it sort of detaches from the bar, that the dip/paint combo will just stay as kind of a "sleeve" on the bar 🤷‍♂️... idk but it cost like $12 to do so whatevs if it doesn't last.

And when i placed the axle bushings on the Hellwig i just gently sliced around the bar with a razor knife (sorta how Jason Momoa cut people's heads off in that show "SEE" just with less yelling :ROFLMAO: ) and then peeled those 2 sections off... easy peasy.

But you have probably noticed that my OEM end links are still on there... not having good luck with the Core ones. got the thin sleeves they made me to be able to use the 10mm bolts at the welded frame nut, and they fit perfectly and would do the trick, BUT, the factory bolt is too short for the new links, not by much, but it doesn't get all the way thru the bolt... thats problem 1.
Problem 2. is the 10mm bolt they sent has a smooth section thats too long for the link, so to get it to actually tighten and be holding the link to the frame, you have to stack the head end with 3 possibly 4 washers... that is too hack-a-licious for me.

Problem 3, however is a new one, where 2 of the 4 johnny joints weren't taking the grease... and when it finally felt like they were, insted of the grease coming out around the ball like it should when its full, instead, the ball joint heaved to one side and on the opposite side an internal gasket looks like its bulging out of the joint itself... and still no grease to be seen... AND those two also seem frozen. Weird... i have an email in to them, but honestly, i've had my links off my truck for no good reason like 3x now... i'm about to give up on these particular parts. A bit annoying.

And the big globs of grease on the zerk, i just hadn't cleaned off yet, but thats all the stuff that wasn't going onto the joint... even after it locked on.

anywhozzle, we'll se what they say... but bottom line for me... i regret the entire upgrade and the cost of it, time, effort, and cost... all except for the sway bar... that is the only thing that actually made a difference and went as expected. They seem like a good company and the customer service has been great, but i'm left not liking that i did any of it.

Good feedback on Core, thanks. Continue to let us know if they come thru with fixes please.

I had the same issue with tightening my Core Links. Using the supplied washers from Core, my passenger side tightened just fine. But my driver side still had a gap and would not tighten down. Luckily, I was sent a bunch of free hardware from Hellwig for the end links that included thicker washers. I swapped out the Core washers to the thicker washers and it tightened down perfectly. Hope you get yours figured out. Love the orange, btw👍

Will do, and yeah they have definitely stood by their stuff and come back with solutions for any problems... Just seems a little tricky when you end up like having to retro-fit a part to work... which... i had more than my fill of that stuff in the Army haha... but these guys are definitely on it.

I just wish the stuff had more of a felt effect... and really they're just control arms and a panhard bar... so i don't really know what i was expecting to change haha. they're literally bars holding part a and part b xxx distance from each other 😂.

I'm sure i'd see something more if i did actually heavy off-roading with the truck... but its usually the truck towing an ATV of some kind to the place and i do the off roading on that. So the truck itself off-road is usually limited to dirt trails and/or getting in/out of the parking area where you load and unload. They do look much cooler than the stock ones haha. so there's that.

How do you like the Nfab Epyx Side Steps?
I have looked at all makes & models & those are the ones I like the best. I just can't seem to pull the trigger on them.

I washed & waxed both the truck & rig today.
We are headed up the coast of Maine for 10 days.
I like them okay looks and function wise. I'm not thrilled with the finish on them though. I'll preface this by saying that I live in an area with a lot of winter salt, and some unpaved gravel roads. I also have large m/t tires that can through stones. With that said, the factory powder coat just didn't last. Less than a year. I removed them, sanded and bedlined them. Now my bedliner is coming off in the same spot, so they need redone. All in all though, I'm not sure any other manufacturer would hold up any better in my environment.

Got the lower grille insert to match the main grille and installed the shifts and grins brackets with the diode dynamics 30 inch light bar behind it.

Also added a little touch of customization to the inside with the personalized bighorn badge.

Nice setup... love the headlights paint match.

Thanks for the info...
I live in New Hampshire so I have the sand & salt problem too.
But not much for unpaved roads & I have stock 20" tires so maybe it's time to buy the side steps.
Did you contact the manufacturer for a finish warranty claim?

Good to know... it's weird... how different these trucks can be at one spot haha. and thanks... I do like how the accents came out.

Finished the front door badges too..

I did not. I figured they would say, and probably rightfully so, that they weren't designed for 35 inch mud tires with no mudflaps, or salty conditions. I have no problem tinkering with them and refinishing them. No real complaints here, just wanted to give you full disclosure on the finish. Now a buddy of mine has some hdx steps on his 2500 and his are visibly rusting, so I guess it could be worse. I don't have any visible rust, just lack of finish.

Today's Thursday.....
The meeting went ok, but I am not so sure the Manager took the situation with the seriousness that he should of. They did offer me 4 free services for my truck, which is eh but at least they are trying to make up for it.

Part of me just wants to be done with it all and then there is a part of me that wants to be a total Karen about it because I feel like they are not taking me all that seriously.

Ugh....

I finally got the dreaded rear window leak (2019), so I called a mobile auto window repair shop and the guy came out and added sealant above the sliding rear window piece. Hopefully that seals it. I’ve already replaced the third brake light seal with a marine-grade seal. Good news is he only charged me $20 to do it.

I have 1000km left on my bumper-to-bumper warranty so I am outside after every shower of rain feeling around and looking for any drop of water on the window interior. Worse yet whenever I go through a car wash.

At this point I am almost begging the leak to set in so I don't end up dealing with this out-of-pocket.

I would have told him he can keep his free services, because if they are performed at the same level of competence that your warranty paid sunroof replacement was, they mean nothing to you and you will never use them
