What did you do to your Ram today???

I know for fact, if you don't add additional additives on the Chrysler 9.25 with limited slip, it will not work properly. Has nothing to do with noise, but function
Yep! I had my rear LSD fluid changed with factory mopar fluid and they didn’t put the additive in. After driving about 30 miles the diff sounded like it was creaking and grinding. Thankfully I was only a couple miles from the shop so I stopped back in and they added it because they didn’t know I had a LSD (it wasn’t the dealership). So yes, I can confirm the additive is definitely necessary on these rear ends with LSD!
 
Oh and I also decided to paint the bolts on my wheels the same color I painted my brake calipers and some other accents on the truck - VHT Burnt Copper. Still gotta paint the chrome method logo on the center cap but I gotta take the whole wheel off for that and I don’t feel like taking these 122lb behemoths off 😂083BC4D0-569E-4C82-905D-AF18B764F0C8.jpeg

That would make me wonder what fluid they filled the diff with then, may have been standard gear oil
 
Also, FYI, Sam's Club sells Duracell AGM batteries made by East Penn for $189 vs the $250 everywhere else quoted for an AGM battery.
East Penn is one of the top battery manufacturers, the factory battery is made by Johnson Controls, the same people who made the crap Optimas up till 2020.
My factory battery died the identical way my Red Top died

Thanks! It wasn’t too bad, but it was still tedious removing all the bolts and putting them back in! I’m gonna be posting a tutorial how I did it on my Instagram soon because I think it was pretty clever how I decided to do it :)

No it was the recommended stuff, I watched them do it. The shop owner is my buddy and he was a master tech at Chrysler for 10 years. As soon as I said something sounds weird he was like yep I know what it is…I didn’t know you had a LSD. He knew before I even told him I had an LSD just because of the sound. Added the additive and immediately it was fixed.

Strange, I've never needed to add in to any of my diffs using Mobil 1 Syn Gear Lube LS 75W-90/140

I'm assuming the LS in your description of your lube is limited slip. Not all brands necessarily have that qualification. It's good some already have that additive. I haven't owned one long enough to have to change it in 30 years, but back in the day you always had to add the extra additive.

My previous ram, I had to add the additive but I used regular gear oil also.
Yes, according to Mobil, the LS designation is for Limited Slip and this formulation states that the additive is pre-added
