What did you do to your Ram today???

How about a compromise. Wait UNTIL you’re bald (cracked dash) to cover it with the toupee (dash cover).

To be fair, we ran a DashMat on our 1996 1500 since the day it was purchased. It was the only 2nd Gen Dodge I knew of without a cracked dash.
My brother's 2000 2500 (garaged a good portion of time) is still non cracked, my 2001 (not garaged) cracked some time ago.

I put this dash cover on from Covercraft. It seems well made, but I gotta sit with it for a while. I’m getting a late 70s Cadillac vibe…
The only way this works is if you ride around with the theme from Shaft blaring out of your speakers...

Who's the black private ****
That's a sex machine to all the chicks?
(Shaft!)
Ya damn right!

Who is the man
That would risk his neck for his brother man?
(Shaft!)
Can ya dig it?

Who's the cat that won't cop out
When there's danger all about?
(Shaft!)
Right on!
You see this cat, Shaft is a bad motha-
(Shut your mouth!)
But I'm talkin' about Shaft!
(Then we can dig it!)
He's a complicated man,
But no one understands him but his woman
(John Shaft!)

Considering the relative practicality of leather (which doesn't seem to like the location), some might say this rocks. ;) I assume you can remove it for cleaning, which brings me to questions:  1) How secure is it, i.e. does it slide off, stay put, come with adhesive velcro dots? 2) What's the flap-looking thing on the passenger side, document storage? 3) Which version is pictured, their website photos don't quite appear to represent our trucks? Thanks for posting. :)

It so rocks, like a 70s pornstache in 2005. In any event, I just put it on today, so I hope it doesn’t slide off. It comes with three foot-long strips of Velcro that you cut into one inch pieces to hold it down. The flap looking thing is for the passenger side airbag (I emailed this question to the company). This is the “Suede” version.
You’re welcome.

Per federal statute 1926.171.3.5(a), part (II):

The sale of dash carpets shall be prohibited to anyone under the age of 65, except as allowed in the following sub parts (a)(1) through (a)(2):
(a)(1): Sale is for a vehicle manufactured prior to 1982
(a)(2): Buyer is mentally deficient

I wouldn't do it, but don't think it looks bad. Pretty much a must for any 3rd gen ram unless you like looking at the inner workings of your defrost, etc...

only vehicle that I put a dash mat on is my 1991 BMW E30 318is because the dash was cracked.
And the only reason why I put a dah mat on and called it a day is because crackless dash is EXPENSIVE and very labor intensive to swap, and since the vehicle was around 30 years old when I had it the plastics and wires were fragile and I was not down to do a complete interior rebuild.

Holy crap, that sucks man - good luck! I have some back issues also - mild scoliosis, minor disc bulge, arthritis, & degenerative disc. But it affects us all differently obviously. My back is a lot worse than my hips - my hips just get crazy tight bc I’m driving for hours on end several days/weeks in a row. So far the best thing I’ve done is physical therapy to try to prevent going under the blade.

Don;t wait.
If it needs doing, get anything you need done, DONE.

Dumbest thing I ever did was putting of new hips for over 12 years.
Finally, got the new hips, which took away some of the pain, but waiting caused a ton more problems.

Don't wait for a Pre-surgery X-ray tech, after taking the Xrays, rush in to help you up & exclaim
I can't believe you walked in here

I created a couple of HOW TOs for some recent upgrades that I did on my truck.

I followed the Front Camera Thread
Adding OEM Front Camera?

and added a front camera just under the A in the RAM on the grill and tied it to the Cargo Camera on the 12" Uconnect. I'm happy with how it came out except for not getting the darn thing centered under the "A".

Now I just want to figure out how to edit the text on the Cargo Camera Icon so it reads "Front Cam".
