This isnt due to cleaning agents, exposure to sun, lack of a dashmat or any of that... its due to moisture or rather humidity inside your cab. Probably the leaky back window or brakelight. This is a common problem with the DT's.
My dash was replaced back in 21. My back window had the typical crack in the plastic frame and was on a waiting list to have it repaired but due to Covid the windows were on back order but the dash wasnt. So the dealer replaced the dash. Of course it took way more than a year to get the window replaced under warranty and in that time the humidity was slowly ruining the new dash. Plus the dealer never bothered to leak test anything, just going off the "crack" so they never bothered checking the brakelight, antenna or even the sunroof for possible leaks. Mopar did extend my warranty on both the back window and the brakelight like they did many, if not all DT owners. That means they know this is almost a recall issue or should be.
So fast forward to now. My truck is back in service because its still leaking. The RF module has moisture in it according to the tech which is causing(and has since new) the tire pressure sensor readings to not work randomly and occasional remote issues. This can only happen from a leak in the upper roof area. So back to the circle of trying to get the dash replaced again along with warranty regarding back window and brakelight again. The dealer throws out that goodwill option pretty effortlessly which we know its because there is a cost to the customer involved. But really it should still be covered under warranty since they were unable to provide the neccessary services when it was under warranty.
This is pathetic for us that pay 70k plus for a nice truck and the dashes get ruined by a design flaw over and over again.
I have determined that the real problem is cab flex. I have noticed since it was new that when I pull out of my very angled and somewhat steep driveway that I hear cab pops coming from behind me somewhere in the rear seat area. With the larger doors, sunroof and increased length of the DT cab vs the classic body, it makes sense that its easier to twist. This of course will affect the cheap plastic frame used to hold the rear glass/slider in. The mega-cabs didnt have this problem because it had a much more robust c pillar since it had regular sized rear doors and no giant sunroof which help with rigidity.
So I wait to see where this goes this time.
