Uconnect not loading properly

If your Home Screen has two pages, indicated by the two dots at the bottom of the screen, try swiping to the first/second page. I did this last night and it brought me to my sub menus for climate, seat and steering wheel controls as well as my BT phone menu as well as restoring the Home, CarPlay, etc menu icons at the bottom. Maybe a fluke as I tried when I returned home from work (a 2 hour drive with the bouncy screen but working CarPlay) so I wasn’t too fired up to mess around with it. Also tried the soft reset while driving repeatedly “just to see if it would work” lol. Haven’t tried it again today so I don’t know if this is a valid temporary fix until the Q1 2036 update is released.

I’ve been suffering from this menu bar issue all day today since I first got into my truck. Several start cycles later and it was still happening. So I started pressing button combos.
I found that holding the A/C and Auto buttons for several seconds brought the menu back instantly.
in an attempt to repeat it, I pressed volume and tune until the radio restarted and it came back up normally.
I’ve noted that when the menu problem is going to happen, the radio boot time is much longer than when it loads normally. This suggests to me that something is failing on initialization. It tries until it times out and then finally gives up and loads without the menu. And this is further supported by the behavior of the screen jumping back and forth to make space for the menu and then going back full screen. Something in the menu app is failing to load and it crashes and tries to restart over and over.
I’m just guessing heee but I wonder if the a/c and auto combination reboots the hvac module just like the vol and tune combo reboots the radio. Since the main top menu bar relies heavily on info from the hvac system, perhaps the root of the problem is a failure of the hvac module reporting back to the radio. Or maybe since this problem started with a Uconnect update, maybe the problem is the radio’s interpretation of the response from the hvac module. Just adding some data points and educated guesses to the conversation.
I appreciate the post, this helps me keep my sanity as I spend allot of time in my truck. The two resets you mention get the display back to normal. Thanks
