A week ago I purchased a new 2019 RAM quad cab (traded in my 2015 RT Charger which I loved). A must option was the 12.5" screen with complete UConnect and CarPlay. For the first two days, CarPlay worked, as I was able to use my Waze app as a navigation device (worked on screen, through the speakers). Connectivity was fine. The bluetooth for hands free calling, however, was not. After the first day, I started hearing a loud popping noise everytime I ended a call and the hands free feature disconnected. I can only make one call, the first time when I start up the vehicle, then afterwards, it does not work. In addition, CarPlay is now missing. I plug in the lightning cable to any of the USB ports, and nothing but a charging of the cell phone. I have an Apple iPhone 8 plus. The dealer said Uconnect was having iphone issues and it is a software update problem and I should try using an Android. I did, and it was unsuccessful. I took it in for service on Monday, and the dealer claimed is worked once for them, but the software update would not be out until the 4th quarter of 2019. That is nine months from now! I called US Customer Care and put in a complaint (the service dept at the dealer told me to do this as they believe enough calls would speed up the software updates). I did, and followed up with an email yesterday. I got a return email last night from FCA and they said thank you and your case is now closed. Really? I sent another email this morning, waiting to hear back. I have tried resetting the phone and Uconnect - but no success. Has anyone else had this problem? I could really use some help. Thank you.

My CarPlay sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. It’s not the phone or the cable it’s the software on the truck. Hoping they figure it out

Gondul and Ksilva211, thanks for the replies. I tried the Android Samsung Galaxy, and it does not work. I remain confident this is a defect, but the dealer is telling me that they cannot change out the infotainment / radios on the new RAMS and the its a software problem. It's strange, because when I first get in and start the truck, the phone connects via bluetooth and I can make one call using hands free. As soon as I hang up, I hear a loud POP, like the hands free speaker drops out, and then I cannot use the Uconnect at all. CarPlay is completely out. To make matters worse, the dealer will not even entertain swapping out the vehicle. It's brand new. Ugh....

Dont give up they sent me that same BS email and I wrote them back in bold letters and told them that they needed to pay attention to detail not just skip through although they closed that case there were still several open and I still had no reseloutuon to the closed case it took three emails before someone actually read what was posted

I had this same issue with an android phone. It worked great initially and then suddenly it wouldn't recognize the device at all. I thought maybe my cable was the issue, so I bought a much better (expensive) cable and still had the issue. I reset my head unit to factory and that fixed it. Haven't had an issue since and it's been about 3 months now.

Currently having the same issue. I believe it may be software, the USB media hub not being recognized properly on startup, or possibly a bad ground. I have not brought it up to the dealer yet but will shortly. Its random and often will work if the truck has been off for 12 hours (guessing the software resets). Multiple phones and cables have no effect.

I've had it happen once. CarPlay disappeared and I had to turn off the truck, disconnect the phone, restart the truck and the phone and I was good to go. Other than that, No issues. I can make mulitiple calls without issue. I am using an Iphone 8Plus.

I along with a few other's have had this issue. Carplay worked a couple of times then the USB ports would only charge my phone. Try putting in a usb stick with music. If that doesn't work then it's the USB media hub. It's a $100 part and the dealer replaced mine and everything including Carplay works again. The part was backordered for a month.

I have an iPhone XR and Apple CarPlay has worked fine on my 12" screen all but a couple of times. I traced the issue to when I plug my phone in, and believe the problem is that my phone was in driving lock-out mode. As long as I plug everything up prior to moving, it has worked flawlessly. My wife has an android phone (GS7), and getting Android Auto to work with her phone has been hit or miss, but I haven't had a chance to trace down to the root of the problem yet. My gut says it has something to do with Android's security with connecting to something via USB.

Removing CarPlay from my phone and re-installing the app worked for me.

2019 Limited here -- i have issues as well. Apple CarPlay will just stop working, issues with bluetooth audio. Dealer just told me we are stuck waiting for a fix from RAM. I will contact RAM too and push them to make this go faster. Does anyone know if there is release notes of what is included in the next update?

Just got done with appointment for Apple CarPlay stopped working. Plug-Media Hub ordered. Should be in next week. Hopefully that resolves it.

Sorry if completely unrelated but I had a situation with mine (twice the same day) where I was listening to an audiobook (with Audible, through carplay) and for some reason, there was also music playing with the audiobook. I tried several things to figure it out but the only thing I could do to fix it was to switch input to SiriusXM then back to Audible. Funny thing is, the music wasn't even from the same station/channel Sirius was tuned to.

My Uconnect 12 has every issue I’ve found on these forums

Took it to dealer last week. After a day and a half they said they couldn’t fix it

Any suggestions?

I went in to get mine updated and the radio would not take the update. Their was a 1 month old star case but still no fix from engineering. Android auto work occasionally and since its reproducible I'm sure its the software now (or maybe the media hub). Waiting a few weeks to see if the star case is updated. Very frustrating to spend top money for a limited truck and have all these software problems. Android auto is a important feature to me and it's obvious it's not working for many.

I am having the exact same issue with my phone not working through my new ram 1500. There is a loud pop though the speakers and then no audio though the truck. I have currently tried 4 different phones, Android and iPhone, all with the exact same result. Texas like many states has a hands free law while driving so I am currently not able to make a simple phone call while in my BRAND NEW vehicle. I have contacted Chrysler, uconnect and the dealership with still no resolve. I have been a loyal mopar customer, Jeep Dodge and now Ram. This is making me question my choice to continue to do business with CDJR. A service tech at the dealership told me they have seen nothing but problems with the new ram 1500s. Makes me wonder if they are selling faulty products to customers........It also makes me wonder if legal action could be next.......
