Transmission falling out of Drive on downshift, blinking, displaying "shift to P" and back

What was the repair? My 2019 limited is doing the same exact thing as well as lurching forward before it takes itself out of drive.
The repair did't work. It was at the dealer 3 times. RAM had their regional engineers involved. They opened a STAR case. The engine harness and dash harness were rewired twice. They replaced the ECM. They replaced the shifter and a few other things I can't remember at the moment. None of it solved the problem.

Tomorrow, I will be getting the buy back proposal from Stellantis. Mike McDonald called today to tell me he would call tomorrow with the proposed buy out package. I am confident it will be acceptable to me. Don't want to engage a lawyer just yet.

Class Action???? I have the same thing happening.
Possible class action. I've definitely got the ear of the exes at Stellantis. I impressed upon them (with very legal wording) that this is a major safety issue. One of occasion, the engine died as the slip happened and I was in the middle of an intersection making a left turn with cars behind me. Very dangergous.

This just happend to me twice. Once like 3 weeks ago and another today. Both time when I am slowing down and turning. This is a serious safety issue. And it seems like there isn't a fix for it... I do love my ram and recently did some upgrade to it but this is ridiculous

I love my RAM as well. Did several upgrades to my Laramie including: Level kit, AFE Cold Air intake, Flowmaster cat back system, Bilstein shocks, Fuel Rims with Falken Wildpeak tires, black badging (no night package in 2019) and Aries black running boards.

I don't want another make of truck either.

Well, it’s happened 3x (3/6, 3/10 and 3/12), all slowing down, but not necessarily turning, since I got it back from the dealer. I had my BlueDriver OBD sensor on for two of these episodes and Control Module Voltage never fell under 14.5V as TX1500 reported. This thread was first started in 12/2020 and NO solutions in 15 months? This is ridiculous!! I don’t want to do a "Buy Back", because the dealer won’t give you squat and they are gouging on new truck prices. I’m about at my wits end with this!!

Happened again as I await the proposal from Stellantis. I'm also looking for a lemon law attorney as well. If anyone has a good recommendation for a Los Angeles attorney, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Add another 2020 Ram owner it has happened to. Was on my way to work this morning and was pulling up to a stoplight and the truck told me to Shift to P. Came to the forum to hopefully get some answers and looks like nothing but disappointment.

Disappointment is the best way to describe it. Although I've been 90% happy with the response from Stellantis, my patience (and good will) are starting to wane. The next few days will determine everything for me.

This is ridiculous!! Is it going to take a fatal accident for @RamCares to finally do something?!! Maybe we should have gone with Ford or Toyota.

Well, I will be presented with a few options on Monday including a buy-back and a "cash settlement." Will update you then.

Well, I’d finally had enough too. Took my truck back from the dealer today after a week and they couldn’t produce the problem. I did speak in person with the director of service at the dealer who has worked for Chrysler since 1984. He’s pushing the "Buy Back" as well. They basically have a formula that determines the value of your truck. The good news is that the used truck market is doing well. I stand to get anywhere from $36-40K back based on mileage and condition. The payoff on the truck (a purchase) is going to be $17K, so as long as I can get into a new truck for around the same price and only having the finance ~$18-20K, I’ll be okay with it. I asked him about my extended 100K warranty and he said they would prorate it out. He also said if I purchased a new truck at his dealership, he’d make sure I’d get the best deal without the BS from the sales people. The only add-on to the truck was a spray-in bedliner and running boards (both purchased from the originating dealer). We will see and I will keep everyone posted.

I really do want to buy “American” (No Toyota for me), but then again, who owns Dodge these days (Stellantis is in the Netherlands). I have a good friend who’s gone through 3 Ram 1500’s and never had any issues. He’s put over 250K mileage on the 1st one, the 2nd one was totaled due to being rear ended and the 3rd one he’s driving now with over 100K on it. And yes, it will probably take a fatal accident for someone to do anything.

Funny thing is the Tundra is more "American" than any of the full sized RAM, GM, or Ford trucks being manufactured right now.

I have two friends with 1500s. Neither one has had any issues. Probably affecting less than 2% of the vehicles, but that's still a lot of vehicles!
