I did not want the tow mirrors on my Rebel, but I wasn't willing to wait to order one to my exact specs. As it turns out I really like them, I don't keep them flipped up just normal position. on the 2018 2500, it has a power tow mirror option. Has anyone looked into adding these or a actuator. Seems like it wouldn't be to hard.

Agree. I don’t mind my tow mirrors at all. Here’s a question I have though. And probably a stupid one but the manual doesn’t say so here I go. Do the blind spot mirrors on the tow mirrors adjust manually or electronically?

I can't figure out why Ram didn't offer power folding tow mirrors when they obviously made the same mirrors power folding in the 2018's. I'm already sick of getting out to fold in my mirrors for going through the wash.

This has to be an easy fix IMO, I will go to my dealer in the next couple of days and see what they suggest. In 2011 my Laramie didnt have power mirrors but they did a couple of years later.

I replaced my tow mirrors with the standard mirror for the Bighorn model they both have turn signal and puddle lights.
The standard mirror is heated, power folding and auto dim plus the size of the standard mirror makes it more garage friendly.

The problem is that my dealer cannot enable the 4 sales codes I need to add to my vin to enable the TIPM to enable the features of the standard mirror.
It seems that FCA will not allow these codes to be added even though they are part of the standard Bighorn package without the tow package option.
I like the standard mirrors but it would be better if I could at least at a minimum enable the heated mirror and auto-dim option.

I need to find someone who can program my TIPM to enable the sales codes.

Did you also get new control modules and driver switch panel?

To get the power folding I will need door models and the switch. The new door modules have to be programmed to the TIPM too at $60 each for the front doors. I just wanted to enable heat and for a stretch goal perhaps auto-dim since my current door modules support those features.

Wait....I need clarification on this! I was told by my dealer that I've known for 20 years that the swap was NOT possible due to incompatible wiring connectors. So you're telling me, YOU switched over, and the only thing NOT working is the power fold and heated mirrors which is fixed by a new control switch panel and a flash?

^^^I heard something similar where new harnesses would be needed to hookup the new control modules.

Sorry I didn't think the video pertained to 2019s. I watched the video and it's interesting. The trick (and price factor) is new mirrors and modules and door switches

So I went to Rock Auto and I can order the mirrors (part 5ZK44 and 45) but no sign of thmodule needed or the door switch. Secondly, the right side is $80 more for some reason. So roughly $600+ shipping for the painted mirrors. Then modules, door switch, and reprogramming.

My tow mirrors had puddle lights and turn signals and the replacement mirror also had those features. When I swapped the new mirrors over the lights worked fine.

The issue is that I want to enable heat and auto-dimming feature too (since I have a auto-dimming mirror). The dealer cannot add the sales codes since FCA will not allow it because they are not original with my truck.
Someday I would like to enable the power folding option but that will require a new drivers door switch (which I have) and new door modules that I don't have.

When new sales codes are added to a vin it in essence is adding new features to the factory warranty too (dealer installed accessory) FCA will not allow this (for now). The power folding option requires door modules that need to be programmed to the TIPM since it's a module on the CANBUS network and the circuit has to be enabled.

There are people who can add sales codes to the TIPM but if you ever have a reflash they are gone since they are not in the FCA database for your vin.

I wish that vendor on YouTube with the mirrors would sell the programmer separately I would jump on it in a second.

My dealer said re-progamming would be about $160. for me, it's not worth $1K.

RAMCares can you help me out????

Bwarren2 can your dealer actually add the sales codes?

These are the sales codes I need to have added. At this point the first 2 codes would be great and the 3rd would be a bonus.

Priority would be to enable Heated Mirror with these 2 sales codes.
1. GUK Power Heated Mirrors, Fold-Away
2. NHJ Exterior Mirrors w/Heating Element

Would be nice to have dimming.....
3. GNZ Auto Dim Exterior Driver Mirror

Need more hardware like 2 door modules and a switch for Power Folding...
4. LER Power-Folding Mirrors
5. GT5 Power Heated Mirrors, Fold-Away

I appreciate the list! Thank you very much. But, my mirrors are more cause I wanted everything matched....paint matched, lane assist, etc.
