Tonneau Covers

Just got this bit of bad news today regarding the Stealth (MX4) for Ramboxes:

I just got word that there is some kind of production issue, so they are not going to be shipping this cover until the end of December, they think.

I guess I now need to research again my Rambox option covers. Bummer.

Just called, the mx4 is now shipping, but very large backlog has to be filled before new orders are shipped. Expecting at least 1-2 weeks

Just installed my Bakflip Revolver X4. This cover is awesome. This is my second one. I had one on my Silverado that I just traded in. I like the security of it and that it doesn’t block the window when open.

Looks awesome. I like that its one smooth surface on top rather than the slats of the MX4 where it folds. Very slick.

Here are some pics of a Retrax XR Pro. It is higher profile than some but that is to accommodate the tslot tracks down the side. With those you can put in what is basically a removable roof rack and all the accessories. I am waiting on my Yakima cross bars as a rebate. I included a picture of the drain tube. I was fretting them a bit but they went very easily into the lower holes by the built in hooks. It also did not have a problem with the factory accessory rail although it did cover a few inches of it up. Still waiting on the break in period before commenting on functionality.

Do you happen to know whether this is available for RamBox beds as well?

Yes i think there is a version for rambox, i remember specifically answering a question like no i dont have the rambox and the5'7" bed during checkout

I did the peragon and also put in a bed rug impact mat works good. Fills in the groves Make bed smooth. The bad thing about the peragon is nothing can get up under where it opens. the good thing is its easy to remove for big stuff or ATV,s And if you have the dollars you can get it color matched to your truck.

Do you happen to live where the winters are cold and snowy? I've been back and forth between the Mx4(or Stealth branded version) and the Revolver X4. The knock I read on the Revolver was that it has issues in cold and snow of not wanting to roll up.

Sorry, can’t give you a good answer about that. Im in Southern California so we barley get any rain or really cold weather. I had my last cover for 4 years and never had an issue.

Don't know about Revolver X4. I have had an Extang Blackmax snap on cover for 17 1/2 years and I had to put an electric space heater at times in winter inside the bed to soften the cover. The cover has 4 possible settings and works well the majority of times. First cover lasted 10+ years, current cover doing well. https://www.extang.com/p-36829-blackmax.html
Not 100% positive but the Extang Full Tilt is a front runner for my soon to be delivered 2019 Ram 1500.

I have had good support over the years from Extang.

I installed a Lund...the tag on the back matches patriot blue pretty well. Easy install, need to get clear silicone for front corners.

How much are they?

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice. I'm looking for a hard tonneau. I really like everything I've read about the MX4, but I can't have a cover that blocks the rear window because I frequently put my dogs in the bed and I like to keep an eye on them. While I know the MX4 can be taken completely off, I don't want to deal with having to take it on and off on a weekly basis.

Can anyone recommend a hard tonneau that might work well?

Thanks!

Ordered the BAKFlip MX4 last week on Friday from Luke at TruckAlterations.com. It will be arriving tomorrow and planned install for Friday :D.

Couldn’t wait until Friday and just finished installing it. Cover looks good and easy to install but had 2 broken pieces. One plastic clip arrived broken and the housing for the locking mechanism was cracked. Reached out to Luke to see what can be done. Pics to come tomorrow.

I have the Extang Revolution on my last 2 trucks. It rolls up nicely , has the bows built into it and is fairly low profile. The one thing that brought me back to them was customer service. The one I had on my 09 Ram got a tear in it, I called Extang and they sent me a new one even though mine was 4 years old,, you don't get service like that anymore.

How much $$??? And what about water leaking especially if you need to open it with water beaded up on top after a rain shower?
