tonneau covers that work with the multifunction tailgate?

Has anybody tried to install the Bakflip MX4 with the updated RightonBrackets? I had the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 on another truck, but wanted the flush mount this time.
Still won’t work with the brackets. The mx4 and flex covers need to be flush to the rail, which the bracket gets in the way of.

What covers have been confirmed to work with the new brackets?
I saw the ReTrax a few times; any others?

This ^^^ I too would like to know.

... also, aside from the Extang Solid Fold, are there any other solid fold cover the will work with the MFT without the RamBox?

I really didn't like the idea of removing/replacing the brackets, so I went with the Solid Fold 2.0. it went on easy enough. I did notice the front clamps are different from what's shown in the install video and instructions. Just a single plastic piece gets pulled up rather than the metal jaw type they show.

Also, I can definitely see a little daylight at the front corners. I'm pretty sure part of it is actually underneath the factory bed cap. I'll see if I can use some silicone or some weatherstripping to seal it up better.

Went after the gaps this afternoon. Most of the light was coming under the factory bed rail cap. I sealed that up with some black silicone and added a strip of foam weatherstripping to the front rail and everything looks good now.

Out of focus, but you can see... No more daylight!

Thanks for the follow up on this. Looks like you've got it done now and with only a small amount of extra work. Really appreciate your taking the time to share all this with the forum.

Wish this could work with the mx4 or undercover ultra flex :/ If anyone has used the replacement bracket and tried on those models please let us know!

I gave up waiting, and went back to the Extang Solid-Fold. It worked fine on two previous trucks, so this makes three...

Yea sucks that they haven’t done anything to address it yet. I just don’t love the look of the extang which is why I was hoping for the ultra flex.

Has anyone tried mounting the flush fit tonneau rails behind the righton brackets? If the righton brackets are skinner now, believe down to 2" from 3", would this be possible? Thinking that if you drill holes in the tonneau rail where the righton bracket holes are that it would fit flush on bed rails and still have your corner bracing and the width would be correct for a flush fit tonneau. Anybody else think this could be a possibility??

I was wondering the same thing.

I also looked and the plastic takes up room. It looks like if the righton bracket is 3/8in, it would only be sticking out 1/8in because of the plastic.

Here is what I mean. One side is a bit less than 2/8in.

are there any known tonneau covers that work with the trucks that have the MFT without removing the braces? i reached out to Bak and they said the braces would have to be removed to install their product.
I am new to the forum, and excited to see other peoples experiences. I have a 2020 Rebel with MFT and just installed a Diamondback SE model cover, and did not have to remove the corner brace.
It went on relatively easy and looks great. I also purchased an 8" deep bin to put in the front portion of the bed, but it did not fit due to the corner bracing in the front of the bed. The bracing comes into the bed too far, and does not allow the storage bin to fit. The cab side locking mechanism has to be just right so that it engages in the access to the bolt hole. Diamondback told me that they were one of the few companies that work with the MFT. Hope this helps.

Good morning,

As mentioned, we made an adjustment to the design of our brackets. They're still 3/8" thick for strength, but 2" wide instead of 2 1/2". From our tests, they still have plenty of strength but much sleeker and fit better.

We originally did this for owners to have the ability to add a hard bed cap.

Shoot us an Email if you have any questions: [email protected]

Here's another link to our brackets where you can order them: https://rightonbracket.com/product/ram-truck-bed-brackets/

If you can verify that a flush mount cover like the ultra flex or mx4 work with your bracket, then you will get a bunch more orders

Thanks for the brackets! Worked great for my Retrax Pro XR on 2020 Limited Eco!

In regards to the MX4 cover, we're not sure if this cover will work at all for the 5th Gen Ram. Since this truck needs brackets in the back corners, the bed rail cannot be flush.

If anyone has the ability to try this cover and it doesn't work, we will send a full refund on the brackets.

I also had the Idea of a different screw in order to gain some additional clearance. Was actually looking for a countersinking head type screw with a Torx Head requiring countersinking Pete's bracket holes. This would gain you a little over 1/2" overall side clearance allowing more recessed type hard covers to work. I measured the factory bolts to be a M9 x1.25 thread and 2 different lengths needed one of which was pretty long, maybe 4-5 inches.....cant remember now as its been a while. Anyway that thread seems to be obsolete except for some short hex bolts or basic allen head. Never saw any cap type. Should you have better luck, please let us know.
So I did some thread checks and measurements with the bolts, I come up with M8x1.25 threads with the forward bulkhead being 1" or 25mm length and the side bulkheads being ~3" or 80mm. I found 10 packs of each type of bolt on amazon in black oxide for a total of about $25 dollars. Once I get them in, I'll check fitment and share photos if they work. Should improve clearance and improve the overall look of the corner brackets.
