The front brakes on my 2020 Bighorn have started to squeak a little bit at about 580 miles. It’s very faint and usually during the first couple of times applying the brakes after the truck has been sitting a while.

Thank you. I will let you know if I take it in, but don’t think I will. I’m sure it’s an easy fix. Almost sounds like it needs a little break grease between the pad and the caliper piston. I might just check it out when it gets a little warmer. Don’t have to deal with the dealer then.

Hi Mr. Hindsight,

If this gets worse and you decide to address it with your dealer, please be sure to let us know. We would be more than happy to escalate a case for you to get you connected with a case specialist for an additional layer of support through that process.

were the rotors replaced or just turned if replaced do you happen to know the tsb for that I have a feeling that is not whats going to be done to mine.
BARR0208 actually i have not done anything yet so rare that it happens, hard to to replicate for the dealer
I had a extremely loud howling sound coming from the rear brakes ONLY when backing in high moisture/rain conditions. Dealer service installed new rotors and a revised set of pads. So far after 2000 miles the noise has not returned.

No problem with the fronts so far, although I know they revised the fronts pads, too.
Best regards,

With winter settling in here I get the foghorn brakes every day I back out to leave the parking lot at work. When I put it in reverse I don’t even need to tap the brake to hear that god awful embarrassing sound. I’ll have someone record it on my phone and I will take it to the dealer so they can see/hear what I’m dealing with. It’s very frustrating when they can’t “reproduce” the issue.

I know right, the other day I got a call as I was backing out the driveway and it was my fiancé saying my brakes sounded terrible, she was on the other side of the house and heard it too. My dealer first attempt at fixing my other squeal (which only occurs after driving 30+ miles, but not when driven much longer was to resurface rotor and pads, but that didn't fix it). Love the truck but have a small list of fixes for the dealer to take a look at when I have time to take it in and get a loaner. Good to see that RamCares is monitoring these and will escalate if needed.

Yeah, at 27k miles so far this is my only gripe and 99.7% of the time I’m happy with my truck. I love Ram Cares...they helped me locate a bed panel from halfway across the country that was nationally “out of stock” when I was in a minor accident earlier this year.

Hi jaberwock,

I want to sincerely apologize for the frustration associated with your brake concern. To clarify, when was your most recent attempt to address this? There was an updated TSB released on 11/22 in relation to this concern. (05-001-19 REV. B) To ensure this TSB applies, we would like to get you back into the dealer to have a qualified technician review the details of the TSB and specifics of your vehicle. Once reviewed, the technician can then perform the repair procedure that best matches the symptoms and diagnosis of your vehicle.

If you are willing to proceed with another dealer appointment on this, we would like to escalate a case on your behalf to get you connected with a case specialist for that process. Your case specialist will be able to work alongside your dealer to ensure all potential solutions are explored regarding this matter. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

It sounds like I have a similar issue. usually first thing in the morning backing out of the driveway it sounds like the suspension and the brakes moan and creak and after that first maneuver it seems to go away. I want to bring to the dealer but I know I won't be able to recreate the noise so it would be a waste of time.

@RamCares I haven't had time to take mine in yet, but I would think that the conditions would have to be there for the tech to replicate the issue (cool:cold/damp'ish morning after it sits all night typically for the moan) and drive over 20+ miles for the squeal which makes it hard for both of them to replicate (especially for the moan as it goes away once you go forward for short distance) and the squeal is fairly intermittent. Feel they will be hesitant to replace/fix, but I do have video/sound recordings of both.

I have a 2019 ram and a week after I bought at the front brakes started squeaking really bad. The dealer that sold it to me was absolutely terrible in every way. They will no longer call me back or help in any way. I talked to them twice and they told me it would go away. My truck does not have very many miles on it . Now the brakes are pulsating and feel weird. The truck shakes when I hit them.

I went to a different dealership and they told me about $600 to repair it. I told them I am not paying for this . Then they offered to trade the truck in on something else. I am not going to trade it in. I like this truck but don't feel safe with the brake problem.

All of the people with the brake groan backing up in the morning just need to video with their phone out of the window as they back up. This is what I did and showed my dealer the video and had no issue with them ordering the parts.

I have the same issue with my 2019 Laramie with 22k miles. Ram Care got me in touch with someone at FCA to help fix the issue. FCA told me that my vehicle has too many miles and that this TSB only applies to trucks within 12 months and 12,000 miles. I was told that the repair bill would have to be covered by me. I'm amazed that FCA is okay with their product being out in the world with such an embarrassing problem. Thanks for taking care of your customers Ram....

I just brought the TSB into my local dealer and they ordered the parts no questions asked. Took a week for parts to arrive, getting them put on later this week when I am off.

Mark, may we contact you as well for our brakes squealing on our 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn that only has 10,000 miles on it. Going in for the second time on Monday for the same issue. Dealer already did the suggested tsb.
