Slight vibration

Has this been resolved yet?
I test drove a 2019 Laramie with a February 18 build date and at higher speeds I experienced the same vibration as so many others have described here. Loved the truck otherwise but didn’t pull the trigger.Does anybody with the 6 Cylinder gas or ecodiesel have the issue
From what I understand the active tuned mass modules are only on the Hemi

If you feel a shake on a test drive definitely dont buy that truck. Most have not been able to solve the issue. I'll most likely be going through a lemon law case for mine here soon.

This Shiiiiiiiit is just beyond ridiculous on any vehicle----this shaking stuff is really deterring me from getting a 2020 Limited--I would love one but it seems everyone has this problem in one way or another with NO FIX at all

Wheel Balancing comes in various techniques.
Always have your wheels "ROAD FORCE" Balanced.

Some people don't even know what it is.

I second the road force balance. If done correctly, it can fix the/MY issue. (Read my posts) They will likely need to replace tires in order to get the best results from the road force balance. My truck is still riding smooth. It was like getting a new truck again. Now I just wish my transmission would have smoother downshifts when coming to a stop...
I would just recommend that if you are considering a purchase of the new Ram; you should do multiple test drives. If it doesn't vibrate then I think you should be good. If you do notice the slightest vibration then don't buy it. Don't listen to them when they say "its just flat spots in the tires". There are plenty of these trucks to choose from.

For reference sake, what tires/wheels are you riding on now?

Same wheels (base Laramie 18") with Goodyear SR-A tires. They replaced all of the stock Goodyear Fortitude's with the SR-A. Not a fan of them, but had no choice because it was covered under warranty. They then had to replace 2 additional SR-A tires in order to get a good RF balance.

My Truck has had new wheels and tires, also road force balance and still does the exact thing since day one..I went to trade it in on a limited 2020 and it to started shaking so I just left..times ticking for me..the dealers are a joke and Chrysler don’t have a clue..so if you haven’t bought the truck don’t until a fix is done because it’s insane how the truck shakes..I’m going to put a video up on YouTube when I get time on the truck with a cup of water in the cup holder shaking..

Ok guys and gals...I have a theory...hear me out, I was under my truck the other day trying to figure out what in the world this vibration could be..pinion angle, torque converter, wheels, tires, hubs, rear end, driveshaft, u joints,etc...and the as I was trying to shimmy my way back out from under it I grabbed the spare tire...and it shook. It felt exactly like the vibration I feel in the truck. Now I haven't had a moment to get back to my truck to test this by removing the spare but let's hypothesize for a moment that when we get up to a certain speed or frequency the vibration runs through the vehicle and finds itself in our spare and shakes it back and forth while were driving...long shot I know..but I am desperate.
Any thoughts on this or anyone willing to try it please let me know if it changes anything.
I wont be back home around my truck for the next few days.

I noticed this with the spare too. I have removed the spare and my vibration was mildly reduced, difficult to actually tell. Problem is the underlying cause of the vibration still exists, the spare may amplify but is not the cause. Rotating mass is the root cause most of the time but not always, that's what makes solving these issues next to impossible

Has anyone tried a carrier bearing spacer ?

Here is my interview with Myles Kovacs at SEMA The Stage this year discussing correcting vibration complaint issues. Maybe there is something in here that will help.

My truck is vibrating badly. I drive 26 miles to work. By the time I get out my hand is slightly numb like after using a jackhammer. I'm so frustrated. It's even in the pedals. I'm embarrassed to tell my wife I own a piece of junk.
I litteraly researched this purchase for 9 months nonstop. I don't have 5k miles on it.
I don't know what to do.

A vibration that severe should be noticed by a dealership, at least to get it on record if more related problems develop down the road.

If it's felt in the steering wheel the vibration is most likely from the front end. I would rotate the wheels to the back and see if the vibration changes.

Also, try driving a different route, road surfaces these days frequently develop a washboard pattern

So took the truck back to another dealer on Tuesday to see if they have any options. Tuesday afternoon I drive to a client of mine and was asked why I have a loaner. Told them about the vibration in the truck. Someone popped their head out the door and mentioned she has a 2018 Jeep with the same issue. Took it to dealer twice already and they can’t fix it.
Now Thursday afternoon , I get a call from the dealer about how the technician couldn’t feel the vibration so I drove down and took him on a test drive. Magically he felt the vibration. While waiting by the service desk, a 2020 Dodge Charger came in with the same vibration issue. I couldn’t resist so I asked the guy about it and he said they changed tires, wheels, whole back end twice.

something is fishy here.

I have to say I am shocked. After reading ALL 37 pages, thanks to the great suggestions by contributors, i tried selecting the Gear Limit switch when i felt vibration, and POOF, gone.

My truck had been doing it since I got it, a 2019 Ram Sport, 2000 km now. Had tires balanced twice, alignment once. Vibration felt at low idle from 30mph to 60ish. 22" wheels, 3.21, Goodyears. So I am in the non-tire fault camp.

I must add, i received great support from CRA. They contacted my dealer and discussed it. Made a plan to address. So I called the dealer and they were troubleshooting on other new trucks on the lot. Didn't want to inconvenience me. Stupid thing is their tech called FCA engineering and their response was they "weren't aware of it." Seriously! Dealer gave them an earful and suggested they may look at this new thing called the internet.

So not a fix, just a way around the issue for me for now. Now i can do my upcoming 2500 mile trip not feeling if. I am content for time being.

Good luck all.

M
