I hear ya. I’ll give them until I’m eligible for lemon law and then I’ll start that process. I don’t have time for the aggravation. I’ve spent a LOT of money with them and while I have been totally happy with all of my vehicles until this one, I expect that they keep on top of their game just as I have in paying them. They have slipped in their performance since 2017 model year by ignoring problems. It’s not the problems, it’s the ignoring of the problems.

For serious safety issues it’s also important that people document everything with the NHTSA. Here’s the link:

Ok picked it up at the dealer. They did the tranny “reinitialization” and a few other open unrelated recalls. Said they never could get it to do the problem. Told them I feel like it will be back and if it does it while near by I’ll call them. 5 minutes later it did it again. I called the service manager and he came out to where I was and saw it first hand. Said he’ll call his rep and see what they want to do about it. Hoping they just R&R the trans with a good one and be done with it.

This forum is for 5th gen Rams, and I doubt the 2019 RAM 1500 Classic qualifies under that. That being said, I have just started experiencing this problem between 1000 and 1200 miles on a truck purchased in April 2019. This confuses me because, from what I can tell, the Classic models use the 8hp70 not the new one all of you guys have in your trucks. I'm getting the same shift over to D from P, release brake, no movement, raise RPM a tad, and lurch. I'm going to take some time soon to try to recreate it. Twice it happened from a cold start and quick shift into D, and once it happened trying to pull away after parking for a minute or so at a window to pay somewhere. I didn't have a chance to read all 20 something pages of this thread, but so far I hadn't seen anyone in anything but the new '19s with the new Trans.

Dealer called today. FCA is saying to replace the transmission. Supposedly they are on back-order and they will call me when they have it.

I was told the same thing. I spoke with Ram Cares, who expedited the replacement, and they had it delivered in a few days.

Hello DallenRex,

We're sorry to hear this. If you end up going into the dealer for an inspection, let us know. Our team is available via direct message and would be happy to help.

Make sure you push the FCA for the 7 year- 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I emailed the CEO directly and received a response within a week from his administrative assistant. Dont settle for one moths truck payment as compensation!!

I’m so excited to be part of this elite group of folks who get stuck in Park.
What I’ve tried so far:
Auto enable parking brake setting on/off
Switching between gears.
Reverse then drive.
Park, rev, back to drive.
Nothing seems to work except the revving in drive which leads to that lovely clunk and lurch. Then she golden.
Haven’t bothered going to the dealer yet since some posts say it goes away with time.

2019 Bighorn. Build date Feb 2019. 1500 kms.

Thanks RamCares. I’ll PM you. I must say that aside from this one bug, the truck is a gem. It gets looks everywhere I go. I have two HEMIs in the garage and I love them both!

Had mine at the dealer for 3 days. They could not reproduce the problem. Oddly enough it hasn't done it since I got it back, put a few hundred miles on it. Guess time will tell.

Took my pickup in to finally get the AC fixed. Third trip was the charm to fix a problem from the first day of ownership. I only had the transmission do the no go one time but they found a TBS for the TCM so they flashed it and the PCM. A lovely four and a half hour wait but at least the damn AC works.

So is the fix a transmission replacement or software? I just got back from the dealer today and they stated it was a known issue and they were waiting for software according to a star case. It’s so frustrating when the vehicle gets stuck in park.

It could be both but more than likely you need a new transmission like my truck did

Just a software flash. It only did it the one time and no problem since.
