As I was pulling up to my Condos Garage door last night I noticed a drive system Icon and a small message to the left of the total mileage saying Service 4WD. Did a Google Search and came up with a thread on a forum where other owners had issues switching into 4WD. Someone posted that if you press the 4 Low first, then 4 High, then Auto 4WD, it would fix the problem. Others said that this worked for them. I tried it this morning in both Park and Neutral but it did nothing. The Truck then also displayed a big message to Service Electronic Stability Control. Awesome! :-(. Looks like a trip to the dealer is required.

Anyone here have this issue??

Let us know what you find. I've seen issues (across any brand) that pop up when you run over something on the road and it breaks or pinches a wheel speed sensor line, and causes the VSC, ABS, and 4WD systems to turn themselves off because they can't read the speed data.

So I ended up taken the Truck to another dealer yesterday, closer to work, to get it in sooner. They ended up keeping the Truck overnight. They are saying that a module that controls the 4x4 system needs to be replaced, however the part is backordered for 2-3 weeks. Since the Truck is drivable I will be picking her up later today and then take it back in once the parts arrive. Not happy about the long wait, but it is what it is.

Can you make the Part arrive sooner? :)

Hello RamBigHorn,

In some case yes, I would escalate you to a case specialist and they will request for the part to be expedited. If you would like additional assistance just send us a PM. (y)

I contacted Ram Canada by email about my issue and low and behold less then a week later the part arrive at the dealer. They installed it yesterday and I now finally have my Truck back in working order.

Sorry for resurrecting this post, was the fix covered by warranty? My "service 4WD" light just came on on my 2019 Rebel at just under 10K miles. I originally thought it just meant service the differentials. Thanks for any help.

You are well within the 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty period.
