Running Boards/Step Rails for the 2019s

People are either using paint remover and a wire brush or getting a grade 8 nuts and threading it on there to remove the paint over spray

Any standard paint remover work or does it have to be auto grade?

I went out and bought a die kit but the problem is the bolts are so close a standard die wrench won’t work. I ended up using some paint remover and a wire brush. Sprayed the bolts really well and waited about 20 minutes before I hit them with the wire brush. The paint easily came off with a few minutes of elbow grease on each bolt. After that, everything fit nicely. Sprayed some WD40 on them and wiped them down right before I slipped on the nuts and everything was fine. I got the drivers side running board on before the rain came down and decided to call it a day. I’ll put the passenger side on another day. Looks really good so far and I’m happy I went with these Steelworks boards from Realtruck.com: https://www.realtruck.com/steelcraft-stx600-running-boards/

I thought this was going to be a harder job than it was. I just spun on a stainless steel but I had and then back off again. Easy.

Pulled the trigger ( hope no one is offended by that saying in these ridiculous times) on the NFab predators today. I really like the shape and how they tuck close with no gap like my old mopar ovals on my 13. Let me know what you think. Took a bunch of pics. I had a real hard time deciding on which to go with. Hope it helps if anyone is debatin these.

So far so good, work great! My kid can now get in truck much easier, and as the driver, easier to get in since I put the 2" leveling kit on the front and went from factory 275/55r20 to 275/65r20, which raised the step in by an inch approximately.

Black Mopar ones that come on Black Appearance package. Not sure how well you can see them in these photos. I will say that I did expect them to be a little more tubular shaped but I like the look overall.

Are those the power boards that retract? I’m wanting to purchase the power boards from mopar.

Thanks to the member who recommended using a die for cleaning out the paint from the threads. I’ve never had a reason to use one previously, but it couldn’t have been easier. I went with the 8mm- 1.25 chaser die because only a thread cleaning was needed and it only requires a 1” socket to use. Threads were perfect and ready for nuts in less then a minute a piece. Here’s a link to the die I used for reference.

By the way I went with the black OEM step bars part number 82215301AC. The fit was perfect and they came 100% assembled. Start to finish I was done in less then an hour and that’s with cleaning the threads.

Just curious why you’re taking these off?
They just don't blend well with the glossy black lower strip with the Berliner finish....they look great on solid color Rebels...I don't like the look and have since replaced them with the regular Mopars 301ac and they look much better although they are a bit narrower.
