Reverse lighting upgrade

Just went with the

LPR 1800LM LED REVERSE LIGHT SYSTEM 5500K WHITE

Can’t wait for the sun to go down. Anything can be an improvement from stock reverse lights.
Those look like the perfect solution, but I just can't get myself to spend $80 on a small led light strip.

It just screws into the same holes that hold your license plate on
Does it clear the tail gate okay? I know that my old license plate frame made contact.

I'm actually looking to add something like this to mine for the same reason so I dont have any firsthand experience with it but I dont see it being a problem. Worst case scenario is you mount it on the bottom side of the plate

Do one of you guys know where that installation thread (step by step) is for installing these https://www.vleds.com/lp-reverse-72-w-5500k.html?
Not sure what part of the installation you are looking for, my wiring install link with Baja lights is below.

Post #32 in this thread is a link to other member's installations and experiences.
Some info for VLEDS I believe is in the compilation but I am not familiar with the specific thread. As previous stated members had a problem with the tailgate hitting (my experience), some opted to alter the license plate (trim bottom) to make it fit and some placed it on the bottom of the license plate.

Best of luck with the installation.

no you don't. you can leave the bed light on which will then turn them on when you go in reverse if you have them set to be turned on through the radio. ;)
Hmmmm they are checked, but don't come on in reverse. That's what I was talking about turning on each time, they don't come on automatically.

yea and if you have your cargo light button turned on when you put it in reverse they come on. they do on mine anyways.

I'm not finding this option within the same menu.

Does the truck need to be on and running for this option to appear?
Or is this option only available on certain trims?

You need tow mirrors with the reverse side lights in them.

Played around with it this afternoon when I got to work (went in a little early). Doesn't come in reverse :( I have to push the button each time

That's weird. mine turn on automatically when I have the cargo light turned on when I put it in reverse. I don't normally have them on though since I find the reverse lights are fine with out a trailer imo

It was very cold and windy today but I managed to install a set of these lights using the curt adapter linked above. I used the blue wire for reverse power and the white for ground, no splicing of the factory wiring required.

I did notice that since the lights have a metal frame they don’t sit completely flush with the plastic trim they are installed in, I have ordered some silicone rubber gasket material in 1/16” and 1/32” thickness and plan to cut out a gasket to install behind them to help cure my ocd.

Huge improvement in the backup camera at night and visibility in the side mirrors when reversing. Thanks for the idea.
The wires from the lights don't appear to be long enough to reach the curt adapter?

No, they aren’t. What I did was cut off all but the blue and white wires close to where they attach to the pass through wires. I left the blue and white full length and stripped off some insulation near where I cut the other wires off attaching the passenger side light at that point and then ran the rest of the blue and white wire which was cut off at the 5 pin connector over to the drivers side.

I applied liquid electrical tape to any exposed connection followed by covering the entire harness in regular electrical tape and over top of that I put wire loom to protect everything from stones and other road debris.

Thanks. I want to attach the wires from the lights to a male 5 pin connecter and plug the male 5 pin connector into the female 5 pin, which comes with the curt 56584. Having a hard time visualizing how to connect both sets of light wires to male 5 pin connector. My apologies for the questions. If it's not already obvious, I have zero experience doing something like this.
